is this graphics card any good

whats cpu/mobo/psu do you have?

do you still have the gtx560ti, as you could buy a second one and SLI them if you mobo and psu supports it.

soz full specs are

i5 2500k @ 4.3
evo p67 mb
8 gig g skills ddr3 1600
h60 hydro cpu cooler
coolmaster haf x case
coolmaster 750 watt psu
ocz 60 gig ssd agility 3
1 tb spinpoint
and was a 560 but thats gone now

On what game and what res did you actually find the GTX560Ti to be slow by the way? 6950 2GB is not really much of a superior card to the GTX560TI except for the extra VRAM...they are pretty much same level cards.

this, but the GTX560Ti can overclock higher, which can reach upto speeds of a stock gtx570.

Give SLI a go. You can always flog the second 560 if it doesn't please. Looks like you're already sorted in terms of Mobo and PSU.

maybe true for a 'normal' 6950, but the sapphire toxic is no normal 6950

well its not the 6950 that i was looking at it was a asus 6970 there was other problems with the 560 as well like for starters temps when gamming hitting 94 as well as being very very noisy aswell any game i play will be at 1080p maxed out plus the 560 ti i had was oc as well 950/4400/1900 this was factory setting but just wasnt happy with it hens the reason thinking about a 6970 as they have same preformance if not better than a 570 as far as i am aware

If the OP think the GTX560Ti is too slow, a 6950 2GB won't be good enough for him, even if the Toxic version does unlocked to 6970. He would have to look at GTX570 or GTX580.

why not? the toxic is clocked to 6970 speed(well the memeory is lower) and if you look at the review I linked to it only a fps here/there between the 'real' 6970 and unlocked toxic, oc it and it matches/beats the 580in some games(yes the 580 is stock, ocing the 580 will give it the lead again but then theres a £100+ price difference).

mathew31 from what I've gathered from looking at the benchmarks the 570 is overall slightly faster than the 6970 but they trade blows in games(i.e. 6970 fasterin some and 570 faster in others, depends if the game prefers nvidia or amd).

in the end its upto you but I was just suggesting a cheaper alternative which is basically just as fast as the one you've chosen, you have nothing to loose if it doesn't unlock just return it under dsr and get the 6970 if you so wish(as even locked its not far off the 6970).

And you clearly haven't seen comparison between overclocked 6950 and overclocked GTX560Ti. Even with the Sapphire 6950 Toxic overclocked to 1010MHz, it is barely faster than the Asus GTX560Ti overclocked to 950MHz:
http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/sapphire_hd6950_toxic_2gb/4.htm
For the OP, going from the a GTX560Ti that was clocked at 950MHz to a 6950 2GB also clocked at around 950MHz is just a side-stepping...you are over-estimating the performance of the 6950, and under-estimating the performance of GTX560Ti.

I'm comparing it to the 6970 not the 560ti, if the op wanted the 560ti they'd have stuck with it. so stop throwing the 560ti into this.

oh and with the toxic unlocked shaders its effectively a 6970(a fps here or there), so are you saying the oced 560ti is faster than an oced 6970? if so than by your logic the op is taking a side stepping going to the 6970 rather than sticking to the 560ti.

had a quick look at the review you linked to, unless I'm mis-understanding it the benchmarks shown are for the toxic oced but locked to stock 6950 shaders but unlocking giveran extra 6-8% increace in the performance.

also if you read the the review I posted there is a issue with the bios which mean the it doesn't perform as well as it should out of the box, you have to adjust the power tune option in overdrive in the ccc to +20%, the occ guying doesn't mention it as far as I could see plus he seems to be lucky as the other reviews I've read they hadn't been able to oc the card that high.

6-8% increase on shader unlock? Ask around, and people will tell you it's only 3% increase on average, which the 6950 Toxic at 1010MHz in the review I quoted with the extra 60MHz overclock would compensate the 3% difference comparing to the unlocked Toxic at 950MHz in the review you quoted.

I not here to argue with you which is a faster card...I'm just pointing out that going from GTX560Ti to a 6950 Toxic wouldn't be much of a upgrade...it is still pretty much "side-stepping", which you fail to understand.
