Games that got critical acclaim but you hate?

its really sad mate.

I think you must be on the wrong forum, would it be less sad if he never met anyone that he spends 10+ hours a week talking to and only knew them online. Perhaps you've never considered someone you met, originally online, a friend?

I'd hate to be you.

its really sad mate.

Well, not much I can really say to that. It's a shame you guys are so repressive about your hobbies, maybe if you were more comfortable with who you are you'd be happier with your lives. Me, I lack for nothing - good friends, great girlfriend, awesome job, packed social schedule and just enough money to enjoy it all :).

Was that roleplaying ingame or RL?

Hehe, clearly IRL. The day I start LARPing is the day I really know I've let it all go wrong :p

Edit: Agreed \/\/\/\/ - Fallout 3 was a big disappointment for me :(

I agree in some ways about Bioshock - the gameplay, weapons and fights were absolute tosh. But, the world of Rapture, the voice-acting and the immersiveness were bloomin' fabtastic.

Whenever I see the name 'Andrew Ryan' written down, I near that droll Northern Irish voice in my head:

"Aaahhhndrew Roy-ann."

Just my opinion, thank you kindly.

Final fantasy, in fact all rpg's and yes I've tried to play them but darn they're boring!

Probably just not a genre that appeals to you. Excuse me while I chew my own righteous indignation....

Personally, I don't get on well with FPS games. I really enjoyed Half-Life & its sequal, and love games with a twist like Borderlands or Bioshock, but for the most part I struggle to complete them. No interest in CoD, BF or anything of the like.

WoW is both a fine example of a successful mass gaming profit model and the many follies of modern game design. Frozen Synapse has also been grinding my gears recently, but not as much as various incarnations of Civ, which was always well received, but has never improved on its rather peculiar AI and shoddy end game. In fact, if 4X genre recovers any time before I hit the grave, I'd tap dance my way around the world - barefoot!

Ninja edit: Seeing FF mentioned above made me think of two things I dislike most about life - Disney and Square's fetish for it, aka Kingdom Hearts. :X

Half Life 2.

Partly because it gave me some type of motion sickness after about an hr of playing. I tried it in several 1 hr slots over the space of a few months but it never gripped me.

Mass Effect 1 & 2
Star Wars: KOTR 1 & 2

As hard as a i tried i just could not get into these but yet i loved Dragon Age. Never been a fan of Star Wars or space themed games/films so i guess that is my problem right there.

If that game gave you motion sickness try playing halo ..... 2 or 3, whichever one was the complete flop on the PC.... anyway, that game made me feel ill for hours afterwards! (it had an FOV so low it was like running around looking through a sniper scope)
