Nexus Prime

Indeed.

Still waiting for 2.3.4 for my Galaxy S2. And Samsung vowed to roll out their updates *much* faster

Yeh right. It'll probably be 6 months wait instead of a year.

2.3.4 is out for Galaxy S and im sure its out for Galaxy S II, its just the network carries are really slow with updating it, but you can just flash it with Odin and it will be exactly the same. Personally prefer flashing it that way than through kies.

p.s. I really want this phone to be better than the SGS II, mostly just want some HD goodness

Hmm, you realise they haven't got AOSP roms working properly on the SGSII yet though, only roms based on Samsungs original.

Yeah leaked ones, Gaygle is talking about an official 2.3.4 UK release. Annoying how the SGS1 has it but the SGS2 does not. (i've flashed 2.3.4 via odin)

I'm not bothered if they release it officially or not, since you'd have to use Kies anyways.

As long as Samsung releases them unofficially then that's all I'm bothered about. Most people wouldn't update their phone anyway, others who are more into phones will use a custom ROM/leaked one, that only leaves a small amount who know enough about phones to want to update but don't want to use leaked ones.

Who cares if its not official the fact is its 2.3.4 and its incorporated into all the custom roms out, its much less hassle flashing a rom via CWM than using odin.

Nothing at all, but people have some kind of strange fixation with having the latest android version.

Wrong. Perhaps you should do some research before you start talking about things you don't know about. It brings Google Talk as well as bug fixes, in particular the Android OS bug on 2.3.3 which uses a lot of battery power. Users of 2.3.4 have reported a significant increase in battery life over 2.3.3.

I for one would like Google Talk and longer battery life - my sincere apologies if this makes me one of these people with a "strange fixation" for wanting an up-to-date product.

I care.

If Samsung can release it unofficially, why can't they just damn well release it officially?!

AFAIK 2.3.4 is indeed officially out for the Galaxy S. Yes the phone that is nearly 2 years old now. But they haven't updated their phone that is 6 months old yet. That somehow seems backwards to me - and very annoying.

It's nothing to do with the networks - Samsung just haven't released it, even though it was leaked some 4 months ago, they're still yet to release it officially. It's for stupid reasons like this that Samsung lose to Apple or whoever make the Google backed phone of the moment. I just can't understand how a version leaked that was pretty much finished - yet 4 months later they haven't released it officially?

Why is it taking so long?! And why is there no updates on its progress? HTC were very good on this front.

From my experience its probably not good enough to release it officially, from SGS Ive noticed the Samsung have released around 10 versions and then finally have 1 official one, then they will release a load of other unofficial version which are better than the official.

Your first post I agreed with. The sentiment of this second post I agree with, but worry you have a faulty calendar.

:p They were just dates from the top of my head. My revised dates are as follows:

- The Galaxy S has been out for 15 months
- The Galaxy S2 has been out for 3.

My point still stands though ;)

A lot of sites are reporting that leaked agent string code points towards an 800x480 res sreen... hope that's not true!

So will this be all round better than the SGS2? Or be pretty much just the same, trading blows and just about coming out on top?

Will it have swype?

No one will know for sure until its out and reviewed. The screen on the nexus will be bigger and higher res but its pentile - and the processor has a higher clock speed but may not be a Exynos. And the camera is rumoured to be 5MP.

The SGSII is a very hard phone to beat.
