Unfortunately even people who seem perfectly nice can be serious racists. I was great friends with a guy at college for over a year and thought he was a real sweetie until one day he suddenly started moaning about "Pakis". This had a ripple effect, he then started coming out with really sexist comments and making the odd slightly homophobic remark, yet still maintained that pleasant front the majority of the time.
From Neil79's persistant use of the word "****" I can't take him seriously as a non-racist. Regardless of whether or not he is using it in racist context, many people find that term offensive so it shouldn't be used in civilised conversation.
I have a higher level of respect for him for changing some of his attitudes, let's face it someone who wasn't friendly towards Pakistanis and Indians because of some annoying cold calls was clearly racist, but I think he isn't quite "there" yet.
I must say I am a bit surprised at Tefal's comments today. He seems to be arguing with you for criticising Neil, arguing with someone else for defending him, then is talking about what a great guy Neil is whilst including an example of how much he peed him off one time.

One of my closest friends is an out and out White supremacist and racist, he is a White South African and we simply learnt a long time ago that it's best not to discuss it, unless we want to smash up whatever bar we happen to be in at the time......

You have jumped on neil and tried to yell him down as some sort of evil racist bigot when anyone who has ever spoken to the guy, even only on the forum knows he has no ill will.
You're going for an easy target and it's pathetic, if you had a genuine argument you'd go for dirtydog but he'd tear you to pieces (as he did to me earlier today in his thread, as much as you dislike the guy you gotta admit he has his edge in literally skills). so you go for the easy guy, and take his comment and twist it out of all proportion and reason to what it once was.

neil annoys me, yeah that's true but in this case he's being preyed upon by a pair of ***** for no reason at all, and that annoys me more.

He is a product of his environment and when you have been through as much as we have together you learn to accept certain things about each other. While he was active in certain things in his native country, he accepts that outside SA things are different and he conforms to that.
I'm not a black African either so he's not bothered about my ethnicity. (I am White in appearance btw, not black or Asian.)

Are you somehow suggesting he shouldn't be criticised for his views because he is autistic? I don't understand why you claim he's an easy target? Easy because he was blatant with it, maybe?
As for dirtydog, why would I waste my time on him? He talks utter nonsense and his clearly off his head, I thought neil was better than that (as I expressed), so can you explain to me why you believe neil is above being criticised in anyway? He's an adult, though he doesn't seem able to defend his views other than getting butthurt and angry when challenged on them.
It was my impression that white supremacists hated on anyone who wasn't white.
As for your own ethnicity, I find I can tell somewhat when a person is some sort of mixed race even if a lot of other people think they're simply white. I'd probably pick up on the fact that you were mixed race if I saw you. Look at Freddie Mercury, he's of Indian descent, and could pass as "Caucasian" to a lot of people but I think I can see the differences.

Hmmm I hardly think it is "for no reason at all", and it really wasn't "far from" defending him. If anything he was overly defending him before he realised Neil continues to use the term "****".

Some white supremacists certainly do hate everyone who isn't white but there's a whole gamut of opinions possible in the overall description of white supremacist with a number holding (apparently) contradictory and logically inconsistent opinions that vary massively according to who they like - that may or may not describe Castiel's friend though as I don't know him.
*groan* how is discriminating against someone for the colour of their skin different from discriminating against someone for a disability? I don't know how that could be seen as a "cheap trick", it's a perfectly valid point designed to make him think about what he's saying.
I can see nobody is getting anywhere here, it feels like we are just repeating the same arguments which nobody is listening to.

Demonise? Do you understand the impact of the words you're using? Maybe you do and that's why you're choosing the words you're using?
No one is demonising him, in fact you're the first person to even bring it up. Do you think pointing out something is racist is demonising, despite the fact that it is?
So I can't point out that it's like some one treating him wrong on the basis that he has autism? Can you point out where I actually insulted him, and used "cheap tricks" on him? Is he not autistic? It's perfectly valid to create parallels between that, and the way he perceived Indian and Pakistani people, considering the signature he used to have about his autism, it's clearly an important aspect of his being that he can't help and didn't choose (just like a person's ethnicity). Stop deluding yourself that I'm berating him for being autistic.
