This is what consolers playing CS looks like...LOL!

Regardless of how 1337 some PC players think they are, they're going to get spanked by people playing on a console

I don't see why, from what I can see PC players will still have an advantage:

+Better hardware / higher framerate
+More configuration/tweaking options
+Hardcore players will likely come from the PC community (since that is the platform most serious FPS gamers have been using for the past 15 years)
+Ability to use 3rd party aids (i.e. background apps) like voice comms program of choice, timers etc
+Probably more choice of hardware i.e. headsets, ability to tweak mouse/keyboard configuration etc

Yes, some PC players will get beaten by some console players, but I'd be surprised if the majority of top players didn't use the PC platform.

well surely they will just add modes right ? so the main multiplayer modes will be console vs console and you can select a special mode for console vs pc, cant see any console gamers playing against pc tbh.

snip..

I don't see how that changes anything. Most of those "advantages" will either be available to any console players that really want it, and/or are pretty negligible compared to solid tactics, map awareness etc etc. You're making a lot of assumption to the level of configuration available on either platform in the final release as well. Has any solid information been released?

Obviously the majority of high end players to play the game will be from the PC, that's where existing competitive CS scene is, and players already have knowlege of some maps etc. Yet I find it hilarious that many people in this thread (which I suspect aren't high end players...) think that they'll be able to join a game and just completely mash face on all the console gamers. I doubt top players will migrate to Go anyway.

I know tons of people that use their consoles more than the PC, yet are perfectly capable of using M+K, they're not exclusive skill sets.

the whole PC gaming master race thing is BS though.

Fundamentally both devices are the same under the hood. They both have processors, motherboards, graphics processors, an operating system etc..

Just consoles cost <£200. The sort of rig that can play BF3 at max is going to be > £1000

THe amount of extra performance offered by the PC is proportional to the extra outlay. If you built a £180 PC, it would probably have a similar spec to the console hardware.

What? Thats like saying my beat up old peugeot that cost me £200 is the same as a new Lambo. I mean they both have an engine and 4 wheels right?

Bringing a console to cross platform CS play is going to be like me rocking up to a BTCC race in my old Peugeot. Sure I might have fun but I am going to get absolutely spanked.

The difference between consoles and PC is that I CAN spend the extra money and get the extra performance. On a console I am stuck with that level of performance untill Sony or MS decide that they have milked the cow dry and its time to breed a new one.

THey are both fundamentally a motor car

Start comparing cars that cost equal amounts, like say a £200 fiesta and a £200 peugeot 106 and the similarities are obvious

Like i said, your £180 PC is going to have very similar hardware to your £180 console. Most members of the PC gaming master race will gladly spend double that on a graphics card alone.

The extra performance offered by the PC is directly proportional to the extra outlay. Just like the £200,000 lamborghini vs the £200 pegueot.

I'm not sure where the hate for consoles comes from, tbh.

For one, I find console graphics more than adequate. I just had fun playing Singularity, which is a console port, and the graphics were fine (to my eyes).

Second, my first gaming machines were consoles. I had an Atari 2600 and a Megadrive (with a C64 in between). Some of those early console games are still favourites (Road Rash2, Sonic, Ecco).

I've also had a PS2, as well as playing many superb games on other consoles (PS1, SNES, etc).

Consoles have a rich history and have spawned many amazing games. I just don't really get why +some+ PC gamers feel the need to bash them. It's your choice to buy £1000 PC rigs, nobody forced you. But don't feel "cheated" when games don't push it to the limit; it would be absurd to expect that kind of special treatment.

all of which will be **** all use to you if you don't have the skill.

The idea that everybody that plays a console is completely devoid of any, and that anybody who chooses a PC is somehow part of a master race and above all others is laughable.

Is keyboard/mouse support confirmed for the ps3?

Either way the advantage of mouse/keyboard over controller is pretty obvious, no "master race" here just superior controls. PS3 controller players are going to get their arses handed to them by PC players either way.

I still can't get over how bad the animations are textures are. This game honestly feels like a complete joke and they are actually going to release HL3 instead. Who is going to pay money for what looks like a CS:S/L4D mod? This from a top studio like Valve. Is it April?

Whatever, I'll stick to CS:S.

You've got me thinking now

Did we have to pay for counter strike at any point ?

I'm sure it came bundled with something i've bought, but can't remember where.

What a ridiculous analogy.

Are the win conditions of CS:Go now to sit in spawn and have better graphics than everybody else in the game? Will the scoreboard track your average framerate rather than kills and deaths?

This statement is false.
I do know what I'm doing, yet still had the problem. Don't presume to know me.

I don't think I've seen a forum section so doggedly pompous and single minded with absolutely no scope for different experiences.
If this was 200 years ago this forum section would be burning people on a cross.

And for that reason, I'm out ;)

Yes, I'm certainly feeling childish now I've posted a whine and said I'm quitting the forum/thread. Oh..wait.

I play console games and haven't really posted any judgements about console game players. I do, however, have issues with people that clearly don't have the intelligence (or perhaps they're just lazy) to work things out for themselves and take care of their PC. To then use their own ineptitude as a justification for a view about how "difficult" PC gaming is just adds to the farcical nature of the post.

i know this, I am talking at PC. They are trying to cater for console ***** and ruining the pc version in the mean time.

To be honest, do any of the serious CS/CSS players desperately want a new version of CS/CSS after all the stuff that went on with the release of CSS?

I don't personally play (or like) CS/CSS but a lot of people seem to - and they seem quite set in their ways in general (not an insult).

No I meant consoles with a controller. Sorry I should have been more clear, its going to get confusing. Although I do agree with whoever said that console players probably wont get a M+K as the huge majority of console players game in their living room on the TV so I really cant see them sitting on the floor using the coffee table. Yes I know some people sit at their desks with their consoles but not that many (as the jaggies become too obvious when you sit that close :p).

Enjoy your spec time when you get bogged down with smokes. ;)
