The Fall of Bioware......

It looks like they got some fanfiction-writing hambeast who gets moist over gay sex involved in ME3.

I think I might give that one a miss.

I like how they seem to twist it so that disappointed fans of DA1 are somehow at fault for not 'getting' how innovative/fresh/amazing DA2 was.

I think its a bit early to illustrate the decline of a company that has produced amazing titles for 15 years.

Why? All it takes is a few failures in a row and EA will can them. The studios mentioned above show they don't care all that much for past reputation if they stop making profits.

They seem to be getting the same sort of attitude people like Uwe Boll have, "what I make is awesome, it must be your problem if you don't like it"

I've been saying to people that Bioware are going down the pan since ME2, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game still but I noticed straight away that it was more dumbed down than ME1. DA2 was **** just based on the demo I played.

At least we still have Bethesda for now eh?

I highly doubt EA hasn't made profits from dragon age 2, bioware put out a half decent product in a single year, the notion that EA would can a studio that they have made such large investments in is a ludicrous notion.

I'm not saying it'll happen now but they are far from safe. They probably did make a decent profit yes, but at what cost? How badly did it effect there reputation?
They rushed DA2 and even though they made a profit that profit was based entirely on the success of DA:O and the lack of effort showed everywhere.
ME3 is the end of the series and I'm not convinced it'll live up to itself but even then they have to work on a new IP (unless they figure out how to milk the ME universe).
SWTOR will probably start well as all the sci-fi MMO and star wars jump on it but from there who knows.

Don't know about you but I can't say I'm all that bothered about DA3 and if they don't do that well on the next IP Bioware will just vanish and tend to SWTOR until that stops turning a profit too.

Started to notice it with ME:2 & DA:O, and despite i liked both games, something didn't sit right throughout playing both of them.

I would say the lack of dev time was obvious (especially assets) but I wouldn't call the developers lazy, EA will definitely think of ways to milk ME but that's understandable. Cant see Bioware working on new ip when they have DA, ME and Star Wars. Ultimately its down to EA's strategy and vision.

The bottom line matters, and bad games don't sell but I wouldn't expect EA to give Bioware 4 years for DA3

As someone who never liked KOTOR or NWN (single player), this really is old news ;)

DA:O was a snooze-fest too.

Truly, BG2 may have been the last good game BioWare produced.

It's very sad that Bioware used to be an auto-buy :(

ME3 and SWTOR are of no interest to me and they pretty much killed the dragon age universe with DA2 so DA3 will have to be the second coming of Baldurs Gate before I even think of buying it..

This, I loved dao to bits and played through it a dozen times, da2 was a pile of ****.

For some reason I was thinking along these lines yesterday evening.

Bioware are on a wobble, there's no doubt about it. :(

Baldur's gate hangs like a noose round Bioware's neck. :D

As for ME3 and SWTOR, they are on hold for me as no doubt EA's lovely Origin software will be mandatory. But even before Origin, 'recent form' and all the discouraging press releases about both titles mean they are no longer on pre-order.

when your devs are saying

f you could tell developers of games to make sure to put one thing in games to appeal to a broader audience which includes women, what would that one thing be?A fast-forward button. Games almost always include a way to "button through" dialogue without paying attention, because they understand that some players don't enjoy listening to dialogue and they don't want to stop their fun. Yet they persist in practically coming into your living room and forcing you to play through the combats even if you're a player who only enjoys the dialogue. In a game with sufficient story to be interesting without the fighting, there is no reason on earth that you can't have a little button at the corner of the screen that you can click to skip to the end of the fighting.

and the worst part of making games is having to play them you know your deep rpg game reputation is dead.
