If there was a plain background behind the dog it would be easy, using layer masks and changing their hue, then using the magic wand to cut it out. The dog one is pretty much impossible as it is.

The horse one is quite simple, just zoom in and cut round the outside using the pen tool and convert it to a selection. If I had time, I'd give it a go.
