*** League of Legends ***

Just had a message from a friend trying to get his ELO up before the reset -

"our yi 1/13/0 4 levels below and 2 pairs of boots"

Who are these people and why are they playing ranked? I played with a Kennen a few days ago who went 1/11 before 20 mins. Looked at his runes after the game - 9 AD marks and nothing else.

Well they said they were removing flash at the start of season 1 .... i love how that turned out.

I'm not sure how I feel about flash now. Not long ago I was with the crowd asking for it to be nerfed or removed but now I'm not so sure. I'm already having problems staying alive as ranged carries because of heroes with stuns or jump attacks and I can only see this getting worse if flash is removed.

That said since everyone takes flash anyway I suppose it should technically make no difference either way. I'm not keen on the fact that you're nerfing yourself by not taking it though with the exception of a few heroes.

They could try balancing it by just tweaking/adding something to the utility tree to spend on or buffing one of the other spells for defensive purposes. Or get rid of the flash mastery since utility has more options than the other two trees, ergo less flashing (:p).

Why, what don't they like?

They complain that the dmg from the new ult is countered by it's long CD, and the nerf to his dazzle and shatter damage means he hits for even less pre-6.

Haven't played yet with the changes, but on paper I prefer the new ult.

Well, after getting gold( 1524 ish) , i am back down to about 1450 in an epic run of fail games, so i stand by my original sentiment that its all down to luck and nothing you do makes any difference. The problem is you hit a wall in about 1400-1550 whereby there are still enough noobs in the pool that have arrived there by chance that they massively **** up the game. I had a game at 1500 where I was support laning with an ashe who had 12 ranked wins, in total. He originally wanted to pick renekton into bot lane. 1500 elo and i had to explain to the ashe he needs to concentrate on last hitting only, not pushing the lane. That sort of **** is beyond a joke!

Yeah it still amazes me that even in mumble with people that have played a lot, not concentrating on cs is still an issue. People just tend to want to harass like mad when there is not much of a need to do so.

Also, it's terribly frustrating that on a day where I have an extra couple of hours to play LoL the servers are down for an unusually long amount of time...

I've said it time and time again and no doubt my figures have changed but roughly here it is...
Started playing ranked lost 5 in a row, gave it a few weeks played again, won 8 in a row, then lost 8 in a row, then won 2/3 lost 1, got to about 23 or 24 wins and 18 losses now had another 4 game lose streak I think it is.

It's total luck, I was saying to Deiwos I'm an OK support and I'm happy to play support as I feel him jungling is better than me taking any role, but when your with carrys who don't know how to play you're stuck.

I agree it is 100% about luck, had a 1650 Ashe feed because my friend chose Soraka to support him in bot and he said Soraka was useless after the nerf.

I want to do ranked so much, I have fun in normals but it's not the same as solo top etc, I hate being in lane with another carry/dps when I need CS too as one person gets under farmed so I love ranked for that reason.

Enjoyed last nights quick game as Vlad, I was dominating mid with help from ganks I feel as Vlad, just every team fight Garen would just charge to silence me and they would nuke me out :( Was rather annoying.

-edit-

That Gragas Dash and Ulti was amazing, prob best thing I've ever seen!

Big thing I've noticed in solo queue is how everyone wants to be mid or top but no one wants to jungle, ad carry or support. Fortunately I feel competent enough to play any of the roles at the ELO I'm at but only because I've spent time learning 2-3 champs for each role. So few players put any stock in being flexible with their picks and I really feel this is the downfall of many games of ranked.

IMHO harass can be as important as last hitting - dependant on the champ you are against though - the ultimate is to get as much gold as you can whilst stopping the other side getting gold. Just leaving any number of champs to farm up and you're asking for trouble

Yeah sure, harass. But what I mean is that some people choose to harass the enemy and not last hit those three minions on half hp for an easy 70g before they die.

Teach me how to play: Jungle!

I'm just not cut out for ad carries. :D

I agree with you on that, when we play I know I normally ask you to jungle if no one else will jungle and that is because I'm not a confident jungler. I should be I have 100% win rate on Nocturne :D You're right though when we play we're so wasted if one of us has to play support, with that said do you remember that roaming Alistair we had on our team? lol.

The fundamentals of jungling are very straight forward. I'd strongly recommend checking out TheOddOnes jungling guide on solomid.net as its an excellent introduction.

There's a lot things to consider with jungling like when to gank, if it's right to gank, do you tower dive, do you counter jungle to start, do you invade at some point later on to try to impede them, making sure you're watching the lanes to see if you need to move in if someone dies, keeping dragon/baron/buff vision, ganking a gank etc etc. I'm by no means a great jungler (mcknight is far better :p) and I'm still learning with every game I play but I'm competent enough to jungle at my ELO ~1350-1400 and not **** it up.

Learning any role in this game just comes down to practice. Jungling probably more so as it can have the biggest impact on the game.

Tried to see who was on 3 nights running... normally play at about 10 pm and never can talk to anybody on mumble so end up playing solo queue :( anybody on tonight?
