is 30 to old to go back to college?

Quick question, how do you folk who are older afford to go back into full time education? How do you manage to pay the bills without pulling in a I'll time income? I agree though, age should never be a consideration, if your in a position that you can do it then you should!

Is it old? Yes, it's old. Most people will be younger than you. Is it too old? Don't be daft.

Go for it, mate, you won't regret it.

On the last course I was on there was loads of people aged 30+ so I wouldn't worry about it.

It does depend on the course though, I was studying Civil Engineering so a lot of technicians who had been working for years came back to study to further their careers.

Im 21 and have done a HNC in Computing.

Its a good course and is worth doing as its one day a week over 2 years so allows you to work. I found 2 people int he course were in there 40's. Then if you feel upto it aim to do some certs.

Just watch out that many employers want 2 years experience.

When I was studying at bell college, now yes, it was mostly mid 20s folk but there was older people and some older than 30.

I chucked it halfway through an hnd and I'm regretting it. I was the same as you and just wanted to party and couldn't be arsed putting in effort.

I think I could do it now Im a bit older and not shy about getting infrontof the class for talks etc.

I wouldn't say its too old no, there was a guy who must have been 50/60 on my HNC course.

I did my HND is technical support 2 years ago and am still working as a security guard . . . I dunno what the jobs are like down your way but up here if you don't have the experience they won't even look at you.

So make sure it is something you want to do before you sign up.

Never too old mate, i work in a college and there are all ages here, some 60 year olds even so it's never too late to go back!

I went back at 50 years of age.
I ended up with a Level 3 in Counselling, a Level 3 in Drugs Awareness and my assistant teacher certificates.
I only used the last one and I do something else now but all 3 helped to get where I am now.

Im 25 and will be starting Uni on monday, despite having pretty much the same concerns as you. Im pretty nervous, but like others say its never too late and I really dont want to be working in bars the rest of my life:p

This is what I would like to know as well. I don't earn much, minimum wage in fact, however I can't afford to go back to college and wonder how people do it. Do they just get a student loan for college?

I start Tuesday. Im 25, and was worried about my age. Don't let it put you off. Age isn't important, my concept of age has changed drastically over the past few years. Whats the point in saying I'm to old to young etc, its just a state of mind.

My wife is supporting me in addition to the student loan and maintenance grant. After a while you get very used to not having any money.

There was a retired copper on my course. He just went from course to course so that he could make furniture all day in the workshop :D.
