I will buying outright, either pre-order (if possible) / buy online or the Apple store.

I would then go on O2 Simplicity tariff.

IP5 - 499 on release. Sell it in a years time in good condition and you'll get 300-350 pretty much guaranteed.

SGS 2 - in a years time will be be worth? Certainly not anywhere near as much.

Apple products hold there value very well.

I have an 3GS 16GB, it's a two year old model and they are still selling on ebay for 200 + pound, easily.

Ditto, works out cheaper than paying £200 for the phone then £35 a month for 18months (what my 3GS was when I got it)... except I'm already on Simplicity as that contract expired in the summer. £15.50 a month for unlimited texts, 600mins and 500mb interwebz. Would just need to get my sim changed for a micro one (which the woman in the O2 shop said she'd do for me when I wanted it).

^ Check quidco now and again, they usually have decent o2 sim only deals. (don;t forget about giffgaff too)

Actually, if anyone's wondering why most phones drop in value relatively quickly, just look around the various deals going on.
Like this one... http://www.quidco.com/t-mobile/ A free Motorola Atrix or Sony Ericsson Arc for £11.50pm? Brilliant, sell the phone and you've got free contract. (or keep it, they're both good :p)
Hmm, could this be why the iPhone's growth in Europe is lower than RIMs now?

Anyway, will iOS5 get pushed out before the iPhone 5?

It looks like I am limited to getting one from T-mobile or 3 network as they seem to be the only networks that do unlimited data, I have used more than 2GB of data so far already this month on my current unlimited contract and with some networks charging £6 for every 500mb of data you use or a £1 a day I could end up paying way more than I'd like.

I'm on Giffgaff which is a PAYG but with 'plans', so £10 a month gets me unlimited data, 250mins, unlimited texts and free calls to other GG users. You can change the plan each month if you want to.

I'm going to keep with them and buy my next phone outright.

Ive been using pre loaded three sims in my ipad and I have been literally shocked to see how good the coverage is these days and how fast the connection is. Im pretty tempted to jump ship when I get a 5, orange just doesn't cut it these days.

Thank's mate Looks good I cannot believe I have never heard of them, it appears that they use O2's network so coverage should be identicle.

I may buy the new iPhone outright and give this company a shot.

Virgin offer 5gb p/m for £5 extra for virgin media (TV/BB/landline) customers

There's a few iPhone 5 cases available to buy on DX now:

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/protec...k-case-for-iphone-5g-transparent-white-100665

Dimensions: 4.92 in x 2.76 in x 0.35 in (12.5 cm x 7.0 cm x 0.9 cm)

Interesting, those seem to tapper off at the bottom more than recent guesstimates. Similar to this older mockup... (~9-10mm at the top dropping to ~6-7mm at the bottom?)

Can't see it tapering tbh. Firstly it makes it awkward to use in landscape orientation as it won't lie flat on a table and will feel weird in the hand and secondly, they moved away from a tapered design with the iPad1, suggesting people prefer a uniform thickness.
