Hi all.
I am really struggling to decide on a new monitor and hoping you good folks can guide in the right direction.
Currently have a Dell 2407WFP and it has been ace. I am purely after the best option for fps gaming.
I was just about to go for the Dell 2410 IPS but then started looking at the 120hz monitors.
I have been looking at the new Samsung 750 LED 120hz.
So they are my two options???
The Dell 2410

My main issue of the Samsung is that I will be going from a 24'' 1920x1200 to a 23'' 1920x1080.

So simple question.... Which one for the best gaming performance/experience???

also you can get the dell 27 inch for the same price right now at ocuk as the 24 you just linked, just you only get 1 year warranty and not 3.

Ooooo that's tempting bit still the questions remains. IPS or 120hz?

Which has better IQ, which one will I notice more improvent on?

Overall the IPS, especially the dell you will see a massive difference in image quality and I really mean massive.. But gaming and general desktop tasks will be a whole lot smoother with the 120hz monitor and fps gamers swear by them.

We can only pray for a 120hz IPS monitor in the near future :p

Cr4p... This is not getting any easier:)

Thanks for the advice thou and please keep your thoughts coming, I need pursueding one way or another!!

Your not the only one who need persuading... :p

But tbh what I might do and what I think you should consider is getting both, maybe not straight away but I think you should buy the dell 27 while it's on offer by ocuk then buy the LG W2363D 120hz monitor which is meant to be one of the best 120hz monitors on the market and can be had for £150 brand new off the bay.

I'm in the same boat, currently have a 2407WFP and looking for an upgrade.
Just to throw another spanner in the works, have you considered the new Dell U2412M.

Going from a TN panel to a PVA panel (24" > 27") the colour reproduction and quality was amazing for me, I can only imagine going from a TN to an IPS would be brilliant.

If you play a mix of games and aren't a Pro (hate that definition) gamer, i.e. play FPS for money etc. then I say the best option would be a 27" IPS Dell as on offer at OcUK, it'll give you the most improvement across a broader rage of criteria.

Browsing, watching videos/DVD's, gaming, it'll all be improved.

Whereas the 120Hz screen will mainly have an effect on games, and probably only if the rest of your machine is up to the task.

Go 27" IPS and don't look back :D

I think I best stay out of this thread as I would only add to your confusion. All I will say is that it isn't even a simple case of the image of the U2410 being superior in every well to the S23A750D. I won't quantify or indeed qualify this as I'm still waiting to review a member of the 750 series but I will say that the screen surface makes a massive difference and subjectively speaking you may prefer the image produced by the Samsung over the Dell in your games. That is certainly true for the T27A950 we've reviewed, at least. I am curious as to why you were considering the U2410 and not the U2412M, though? Unless you particularly like using the broad colour gamut the sRGB performance of the U2412M is to all intents and purposes similar, contrast is superior and it's cheaper and more energy efficient.

Sometimes too much knowledge can be a bad thing. Go with your heart...

Oh wait that never works when this much money is involved does it? Have you considered the U2412M as well (as above?) Also are you familiar with Distance Selling Regulations? If you were really unhappy with what you'd purchased you would be able to send it back and only have to pay for the return postage. I know it's not ideal but it does mean you aren't putting everything on the line if you do go for one or the other. You could read all you like about the two monitors and still be left wondering - unless you had used them both yourself ;). *Website pimp alert*. I would certainly check out the T27A950 and U2412M reviews on my website (link if you click my forum name) to give you a bit of flavour of what to expect from games once you've fiddled with the settings a bit.

I've got the Asus 120hz. It's excellent for 3D Vision, the vastly reduced screen tearing and actually being able to see more than a blur when you turn in fps is very nice as well BUT I think the image quality in 2D is just horrible and i'm considering going back to ips (27" hazro).

Isn't the asus meant to have insane buzzing or something?

First I've heard of it, someone the other day told me it was supposed to have insane input lag, which it doesn't.
