do you guys install your motherboard drivers when using windows 7?

i found windows 7 pretty much got the motherbooard drivers covered, im going to do a clean install again and just thinking should i even bother?

Always :). It's So easy now as you can download/run web apps from the main parties (nVidia, Ati, intel) that detect your hardware an automatically download the latest drivers :).

Chipset? Only out of habit. Windows picks up any chipset updates (inc/ amd) after a reboot so I assume it would find them all automatically.

Gpu/soundcard drivers on windows update seem to be out of date - always. If your mobo had just hit the market odds are widows update wouldn't have all the drivers, or have old ones.

even less of bother is to not do anything at all as WU seems to take care of everything for me.
The only PC which I need to install something for is the HTPC and that is due to WU failing to find drivers for a co-processor that turns out to be part of an NVidia chipset driver.

I don't see the logic of not trusting the drivers from WU. They're from the manufacturer anyway, and they have to pass Microsoft quality control to get distributed. The only thing you can't rely on it for is getting the latest drivers.

Windows 7 picked up pretty much everything, but like a few said, I'll update the graphics as it does resolve some gaming issues.

My printer's a weird one. It's a wireless Deskjet 5800. Windows 7 will install it but you have to select the 5600 in the wizard.
