Trackmania 2

Why can I not adjust the sound levels??

The ingame music and sounds are far too loud. I have to turn down my reciever by half which means it's a pain if I want to listen to some music aswell.

use the built in vista / win7 mixer... that's if your not running xp.. lets you cahnge each apps audio levels.

The opening menu.

Audio controls are at the top, hover your mouse to the top of the screen, the slider bars can be seen :)

Is there a map vote on the server?

Yes, map kharma is on the right.

How often are you checking and adding/deleting maps? I mean, I appreciate that it all takes time and you're running the server off your own back, but there's one map with -7 karma at the moment, or at least there was as of last night :p

And yeah, the audio mixer is so useful, especially for things which don't have individual volume controls/mute buttons.

There is one with -8 and the first time i had ever made it around i take the number 1 record spot, so I'm lucky and unlucky all in one go as that track has to go.

Just to add... is there any mod you can install where we can vote for specific maps?

The current plugins can handle that.

Not guaranteeing it will be sorted today but it is on the list of things to do on the server but voting them down using the karma system should reduce the frequency of those maps.

New map here

Can it be added to the server? Also i've added some custom music. Do I just need to send the mux file? (It's in the zip)

Will add it this evening.

Well I figured out you cant use analog accelleration, and I got to eighth in the south east leaderboard on a track Woot!!

To be brutally honest, i dont think thats a patch on your Croft map, or any of the *drivable/enjoyable* tracks on the server rotation at the moment.
Theres no character to it, nothing distinct about any section of track let alone on the whole. Each corner just feels like its another long 90 section and it becomes a bit bland as a result imo. Even the corkscrew while challenging doesnt lift the experience.
More scenery would help, whether its canyon walls, trees, unused track tiles... just something to make it distinct and memorable. I know its based on Laguna Seca, and its a sandy coastal track, but just like Croft doesnt have a spiral section or a huge jump at the start or end, there needs to be some excitement to it.
It needs some variation, more of a flow, and bit of character to liven the setting up a little. IMO anyway. You made a great track in Croft, but this one feels unfinished in comparison tbh.

Also, seeing as im posting, people really should try the Cliffhanger map offline perhaps, cos that IMO is the best map we have in rotation at the moment, and it seems the majority spend the first 3min of the 8min alotted completely skipping the first checkpoint despite seeing others going through fine. It definitely rewards practice, but there arent any corners which require anything more than rolling speed (although its done best entirely flat out, with drifts and quick car control), no annoying track jumps which require speed + precision lineup etc, its really rewarding when your throwing it around the track, its easily the best track ive driven on so far in terms of speed, precision, and overall thrill when getting it right.
Not sure why people are downvoting it, its not deceitful, has no nasty sections, and EVERYONE can finish it. There are considerably worse & more confusing layouts which neutral karma (that Drift one that leaves you guessing at the route to go round and you've no idea if you've gone the right way until you cross the line and its either a finished lap or almost questioning why your there).
IMO all the tracks in the rotation should be finishable to the vast majority of the people online, not layouts which require 30min of practice to fully understand how to complete it and 100% speed without a mistake to get half-way through it. Precision should be rewarded, but a few of the tracks demand it else your wasting your time, you might as well wait 8min for the next layout and hope its a friendly track. Everyone being able to finish and join in should be the goal, doesnt make layouts boring just because everyone can do it. Cliffhanger is a perfect example of that, short, technical, fast, flowing & finishable.

Cliffhanger link if anyone wants some solo time with it: http://tm.mania-exchange.com/tracks/view/414/cliffhanger
can provide a replay if anyone wants to see how me & rc10racer (Mr F) take it.

Also had a quick couple of runs on his latest track, Cliffs of Sanity, which is also a really good track IMO: http://tm.mania-exchange.com/tracks/view/3901/cliffs-of-sanity

So is it Trackmania 2: Canyon!?!?

Is there just the one place you can download it from?? ie. its not available through Steam or in shops??

Nope just from Trackmania's website for now, they are thinking about adding it to Steam but I think it's getting in the way of their whole "Mania Planet" schemes.
