Onlive UK launch: Any game for £1!!!

Was gona get red orchestra 2 on there and use the key on steam if i could. :( Seems it isn't on onlive yet.

Also duno if i can get saints row 3 with this offer or not as its pre-order.

Thanks for the heads-up - just had a play on the Dirt 3 trial to see what it's like (the service, not the game).

It's probably better than I thought it would be. Was surprised how smooth it ran - at least to start with until it started visually lagging every now and again.

Framerate aside, it's lacking a bit too much in all-round visual quality for me, and never mind feeling any input lag, I could easily see the delay.

Could be an interesting way of seeing a quick demo of a game, but I can't see myself being able to seriously play a game the way it is.

I have said before, a few years ago infact in another thread.

This is the future of gaming, no doubt about it, it is just a matter of when.

If a server farm can render 1080p and beyond at full eye candy for me to play, why not :). Not that it can do this at the moment, struggles with 720p on a good internet connection.

Saves me money on hardware.

Actually quite a lot interesting information in their blog post.

http://blog.onlive.com/2011/09/21/uk-get-ready-to-change-your-game/

Couple of interesting points:

Eurogamer Expo attendees get a FREE OnLive Game System (while supplies last)
BT customers get 100+ PlayPack Games for FREE for 3 months
PC Gamer Magazine readers get 1 month of 100+ PlayPack Games for FREE

and

Gamespot.co.uk, one of the top game review sites in the UK, will be incorporating links to free instant-launch demos of OnLive games from its game review pages, empowering players to test-drive games from anywhere with a few simple clicks.

This is a shame though:

OnLive traffic will not count towards BT broadband customers usage allowances until the New Year, regardless of their broadband option.

Good that it doesn't count but considering they're a partner I thought it would be forever, not just until the new year.

Saying that:
BT looks forward to announcing more exciting initiatives with OnLive in the near future.

So maybe something in the pipeline.

Not that it bothers me. Unlimited downloads with Virgin 50MB eats this for breakfast :)

I played some Space Marine and it felt ok to play. The one gripe that I have is the graphics are not very crisp. I can see this as being the future, but it feels like they are 5 years too early with it.

Will need slightly improved pings and full HD graphics before I would pay for any games. This service may be ok if you have a bit of a pants PC or are away and only have your laptop, other than that I would rather pay for my games via steam or retail at the moment.

I got warhammer thinking i could activate on steam, doesnt appear so... looks like its onlive only.

Just been looking through some articals and found one that stated you only get the game for 3 years. Is this true? if so its basicly just a long rental.

I just tried Dirt3 on my 50mbit connection, it's very difficult to play because of input lag and jitters, also the graphical glitches are frequent and make it difficult to see at times. For driving games this service appears to be lacking.

The Arena is a nice touch.

I can see how it'll work for less action/reaction intensive titles, in a few years this could be really good but for now I'll avoid.

That used to be in the T&C's, not sure if still is.

Basically, they only guarantee access to the game for three years.

I guess it is owing to contracts with developers and publishers or removing "dead" games from their servers.
