Which celebs have you met and how were they?

My favourite by far was when I met Colin McRae. I was on a small internal flight in middle Finland with my missus at the time and we had to sit in seperate seats. She ended up sitting next to him (I did not know) and she told him I was a massive Rally fan. He actually came to find me in the little airport when we landed and we had a really good chat whilst he was waiting to be picked up.

He told me that he was testing out there and I asked where. He said he did not know as his Finnish was really poor and he could not remember, but if I found out where it as, he would be happy to let me sit in the passenger seat for a while as he was driving about. :D

I never found out where he was testing. :(

R.I.P Colin.

Lucky sod!

RIP Colin :(

I've met a lot of musicians etc through work, but it's always been a bit different because they're in that work mode, only one I've have a real chat to like that was JK, who chatted to me and the guy I was working with who hadn't a clue who he was, and moaned about not knowing who the band were, JK then made a joke about it once he was on stage.

Out of work but somewhat more orchestrated I've met In Flames and Metallica (plus a couple of Machine Head) at meet and greets, I also hung out briefly with Metallica and ran to the stage with them to watch the show from inside the barrier (centre stage).

Outside of that the only one I've really spoken to is David May who's a regular at the pub I work in, or was anyway, not seen him for a while. He's a nice enough bloke, can get a bit hacked off if people recognise him and keep going on about Utd though.

Know a few comedians at various levels, have met Jason Manford and John Bishop but only briefly, met Richard Herring a few times but have been absolutely bladdered so not had much to say.

Dave Vanian from The Damned.

Was engaged to this awesome Irish/Geordie lass at the time and we were at her granny's funeral. I said to her "I recognise the bloke in the black suit, black tie, black shirt and with black hair with a white streak, but I can't think where from".

She says "oh, that's our David. He's a musician."

Got royally drunk with my lass and him and gave granny a cracking send off. Was a canny bloke, although I couldn't help thinking I'd have liked to have met him in better circumstances.

I met Ben Cohen when I was younger. My old next-door neighbour was a Semi-Pro rugby player, and Ben, Neil Grayson and a few other Northampton Saints players that I didn't recognise came round to his house and helped him pave his driveway!

I got their autographs, and the only pen I could find was a silver glittery one. I was so proud I pinned it on my door.

bradley walsh (law and order UK) - really sound bloke. likes a drink, not up his ass, very professional but also a true british 'lad'.

rowan atkinson (mr bean!) - very polite, well mannered, professional and seemed very business-like. also very straight faced... no happiness or fun in there lol.

idris elba (Luther, Thor) - probably the nicest actor i've ever met. just a generally awesome guy. very humble, had manners and just seemed very down to earth. not a bad word to say about him.

patrick stewart - seemed alright. a bit old and confused/slow at times, but seemed pretty peaceful. very decadant though.. and likes to be treated like a king.

ant & dec - i was very young, but from what i remember they seemed like really nice guys. down to earth, and generally what theyre like on TV!

all i can think of at the mo!

My Dad has met a few people (Mainly the Top Gear cast) 'cause he works for the Steam Packet (Boat company here in the Isle of Man and Liverpool/Heysham) so they'd obviously come with cars. He also spotted Ben Collins in his Stig outfit without his helmet on. He never mentioned what they were like though 'cause he never talked to them for that long.

As for me, the only 'famous' person I've met in the guy who played Ashley in Corrie all them years ago :p. Was a nice enough chap. You can sometimes tell what these people are life off air, like you can tell Ant and Dec are decent lads off screen.

Busta Rhymes, 1991 when he was with the Leaders of the New School, at a concert in Glasgow is probably the most famous.

Rza (from Wu Tang) outside Ice Cube concert circa 93, met him briefly after he performed with Gravediggaz as support, he asked me if i banged my head (in reference to the old gravediggaz track bang your head).

I used to work in a video shop many many years ago when in College in Edinburgh. Sometimes J.K Rowling would rent some dvd's, she did seem rather up herself. I also remember chatting to this really quite friendly laid back bloke who came in every other day. One time another customer started chatting to him about how he enjoys his work an asking when his next one was out.

I asked him what he was on about and he told me he wrote a bunch of books about a Detective named Rebus. I had never heard of it as I was never into Crime novels. But the author Ian Rankin is a nice guy.

Met Jack Black in Dublin airport. Even though he was clearly trying to find the private lounge to escape the riff raff he was thoroughly nice about being stopped for a quick chat and an autograph.

And years ago, my mum met Sean Connery in the street in London. She acted all star stuck and flustered and finally blurted out that she had seen his son on TV (was when Robin of Sherwood was on years ago). He thought it was very funny.

The year was 1977. I was six years old. We had to transport David Prowse from the airport to a convention he was doing at Cobo Hall, since our van was the only company vehicle large enough to transport him along with his 300 lbs. of gear.

As a tot, he allowed me to try on the helmet.

Take that, Hayden! :p

many years and moons ago when i was in junior school i met rolf harris. there was a storywriting competition where the prize was one of his books, but i didnt know he was going to be there to sign it. he was a really fun guy to be with

also briefly met michael parkinson while i was having a birthday meal at his son's restaurant in maidenhead

I've only encountered 4 celebs since moving here, but only properly spoke to one.

My mate booked a booth at a club in London for his birthday, but only up to midnight, after which Geri Halliwell had it. Mate and I helped her out when he bouncer needed to go pee and she needed the odd person stopped from just walking in to the booth. She thanked me by molesting my booty whilst dancing a bit later, was pretty surreal.

That aside, only had brief run-ins with Patrick Stewart, Jamie Oliver and the black alcoholic dad from Hollyoaks a few years back.

Sir Matt Busby

Met him at Windsor Park Belfast during George Best's Testimonial match. I was 16 and my dad worked for ITV so after the match he brought me up and introduced me to him. He chatted to me for what seemed ages while the media hacks were scrambling for an interview, he ignored them and kept chattin to me about Man Utd.

It was like talking to God

I met Ewan Mcgregor in Iraq in 2007, I am a massive fan and so was a pleasure to meet him.He signed my book which I had ( the long way down).
He was really nice.
