So i do a couple of 15 hour night shifts (security).
been told as long as i keep an eye on the CCTV i can get a handheld.

problem is Vita isnt out until feb 2012.

so. PSP or Nintendo / 3Ds ?

been gaming all my life and never had a handheld.
does the 3DS have more games?

cheers for any help.

I'd say a PSP 3000 and buy any games that you will want to keep from the PSN if you can get them. That way you'll also be able to play them on the Vita if you ever get one.

I'd say get a DSi XL as the battery life is longer and you'll need it on those long ass shifts. I used to do that sort of job years ago and its the most boring job on the planet.

Can be had for around £120 now. The DS has far more better games than the PSP. That isn't even an arguement. I guess if you wanted to, you could watch movies/tv shows on the psp if thats your thing.

I play pokemon at work when I get chance.

I play a PS3 as my main console and have owned and sold a PSP, Nintendo is really good for hand held consoles, It gives me a different type of gaming experience than I get from the PS3 at home.

Another option is to get yourself an Xperia PLAY mobile phone and put yourself a couple of emulators on it, GBA, PSX, SNES, MEGA DRIVE....gives you the option of playing all kinds of games on different platforms...oh and you can get the usual gamesloft games on it as well as the touch screen classics like angry birds! ;)

Only issue there is, when he comes to use it as a phone, there won't be enough battery life left :p

it does last quite a few hours, even after lots of gaming, surely they have a plug socket at this security desk anyway?.....if not just unplug the monitors, it will be fine ;)

Well the Vita is clearly the best choice but not on the market right now.
But i'd probably for with a DS//DSi. (don't see the point in 3DS, it looks crap).

Reason being that if you buy the Vita, you may as well have a few months with something different. DS has plenty good games unique to it so play all of those, then sell it on and get the Vita.

Will you be able to play online using wi-fi? If so I'd be tempted to get the 3DS and play the new Mario Kart 7 (Dec 2) , surely endless hours of fun right there. Also Starfox and New Mario would be ace too.

I would say get a DS. If you can find a second hand DS lite in decent condition it will be the cheapest option and you can play GBA games as a bonus! If not the DSi XL has great battery life and much larger screens.

I get the feeling the 3DS will come into its own next year but I'll wait until the next hardware revision before jumping on that.

Dsi XL, i have all the psp and nintendo handheld apart from the psp go. I always take out the Dsi XL when travelling due to the bigger screen.

i do night work security too, fortunately i work for a great company, so i take my M11X in with a big monitor, although i tend to play on my 3DS more, great fun little handheld:)
12 hours of uninterrupted gaming etc, i love my job:)

It all depends which games you like, I'd get the PSP because I like Playstation games and I like GTA, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo more than the likes of the Mario games. There's nothing better than being able to whip out your PSP and play MGS or Resident Evil 1, 2 or 3. :)

Forgot that. PSP has 1 up on everything immediately for the ability to play old PS1 games.
But probably not worth getting if you want the Vita anyway.
