Unemployment thread

1. Just starting my second year of college, 9 A grades at GCSE and passed all 5 subjects in my first year at college above a B.

2. Looking for my first job to slot in around college. Interview for Gamestation next week!

3. Ask in stores around town every 3 or so weeks, check websites of places I know are likely to be hiring for christmas every day.

4. Rarely, so many college students looking for christmas jobs everything gets snapped up as soon as it's out.

5. First one next week after ~5 months of looking.

6. I'm not really tight for money so to speak, I just hate relying on my parents. Feel like a beggar >_>

Out of my job for 3hr 43 minutes now.

Been told I have to take a 2 week holiday before coming back into a new role on a huge salary increase.

I don't know how I'll cope. Maybe I'll sign on and just dance around the job centre.

*Gets coat*

Remember guys, you're talking to someone who wants to become a pro golfer because he is better than his mates at pitch and putt.

I have a sneaky feeling that I know why he's struggling to find a job.

or a guitar teacher because he can play guitar

1. What is your education? Graduated with a first class (Hons) in Architecture at Newcastle University this year.

2. What is your status..no work, sacked, career change, out of college etc..? Managed to find a temp contract as a graphic designer for local museum. Here's hoping it leads onto better things. Really want to get into graphic design rather than architecture :)

3. How often do you look for jobs? and where? 3 to 4 times a week, but less so with this contract. Will have to start looking again soon though. Generally look on direct gov, design blogs and graduate employers.

4. How often do you see suitable jobs which you contact/apply for? Every so often.

5. How often do you get interview for job? Had 3 interviews since I left uni. Two I didn't manage to get the job, the other was this temp job.

6. Any other interesting unemployment info? I can't feasibly afford to move away from home as I have no savings and I still need to learn to drive, which does limit my options A LOT. I do however, play a lot of TF2 now :p

Find a job any jobs, move or travel further if you have to.
Don't aim to high.
Sort out your cv, I can almost guarantee it's poor if you have had no interviews and don't be scared to pay for it to be done, despite what people say on here. Not everyone's a good writer and most jobs don't require you to be a good writer.

1.BaHons Degree

2. Graduated in July, been looking for work since

3. 2 or 3 times a week, mainly online job sites. Found the hard way Agencies are a god damn joke.

4. Hmmm I find about 2 or 3 during my search

5. Applied for 70+ jobs so far, had 3 interviews, 1 second interview and 1 job offer but only to have that offer to be put on hold for 3/4 months :mad:

6. it sucks

Where is your degree from? If it's a 3rd from Neverheardofit in Graphic Pastry Cooking and Lifetime studies of Noel Edmonds then you may want to rethink your life.

I hope you are not one of these numpties who went and done game design at some horrible university thinking you'll be paid millions right out of the door just so he could be with his mates.

1. BA Politics

2. Very unemployed (6 months) and going back to uni to do my MSc properly

3. Every day 9-5 online, job centre, paper.

4. Any job was suitable just so long as I had something to do

5. Hardly any, almost everything iv applied for has been a. you don't have enough experience for this position or b. you won't stay long enough as you are a graduate looking forward to the future.

6. Im going back to uni to give me something to do whilst I'm going though any graduate scheme that might go somewhere.

Only thing I know from a mate who was in the same situation is that it seems a lot harder to get anywhere now than it was 3-4 years ago. I just don't seem to be able to get an in at the moment (like 100's of other people who sign on every week with me). Having something to do and to look forward too might be hard but it helps to to have something as it gets really really depressing on your own trying to make it (iv just learnt to drive)

1. What is your education? College, A levels in Photography and Computing

2. What is your status..no work, sacked, career change, out of college etc..? Last place I worked had no work left due to shocking management skills. Only been unemployed 2 weeks or so, trying to get some agency work.

3. How often do you look for jobs? and where? Job agencies, shops in town. Will go and hand out some CVs this week.

4. How often do you see suitable jobs which you contact/apply for? I don't know.

5. How often do you get interview for job? On average, 1 in 5 applications. I usually get a job pretty quickly when I try really hard.

6. Any other interesting unemployment info? Might try to some freelance web development, but I have no idea how to get work in that. To google!

lol maybe now he should do porn with hot females to earn mega money.

Defiantely but I think its a hard job to get.

And when I researches it they siad that most guys always ahve to start in the gay industry before they can move on to straight porn. So I dont want to do that.

Also wheres the auditions lol. I think its hard to find these jobs?

Anyway I guess I should send myCV to all world football teams because I play football manager 10 hrs per day and I win everything always..and any team..I Am great manager. I can send screenshots on my CV :p

This guy has a degree?

I'd start by spending less time posting dross on a computer forum and more time getting out there and doing something to fix my situation. You sound lazy, uneducated, unwilling and unemployable.
