New Sony NGP/Vita Screen shots, videos, and news (embargo now lifted)

Another interview with Yoshida. Talks about lessons from PSP, Nintendo and the 3DS as well as the remote play feature.
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...psp-lessons-and-nintendo.aspx?PostPageIndex=1

Remote play uses a little overhead on the PS3 and so developers will need to check that it works with their game. Hopefully that doesn't mean that only 3 games get it because the devs cant be bothered to look and see if it works.

Got an email from Toys R Us to say they cancelled the order. Never mind. Didn't expect it to work anyway but it was a free try.

I've been working on a nice official thread for the Vita too. All the pertinent info and screens and links in one nice post so start anew once i've got it finished.

I have to say, I really can't wait for the Vita to come out. I've never been a huge handheld gamer but this really does look brilliant.
Anyone else think at £230 it's actually rather good value for money?
I was expecting a higher price tag and was nicely surprised when the price came out.

Also, It works out about £80 cheaper importing from USA the last time I checked. Could be more or less depending on going rate.
Obviously this means you get no warrenty, but does anyone know much about customs when importing things?

I've imported consoles, games before and never been charged customs fee's, but on 2 occasions I have. Both meaning the saving was completely negated.
Is it just completely random?
Amazon.com charge an uprfront fee of $50 for customs (or something like that) but state you may get it all back.
Probably just worth buying from UK really because if the customs charge does hit then it's not really worth bothering.

Importing from the USA would be fine if either you were there or someone you know was. That way you could easily skip the customs and vat charges by having it in your luggage.

Ordering it though is just a waste of time in my opinion. In my experience everything from the states gets caught at customs so you'll be charged 20% vat, plus whatever % they decide that that particular item warrants. Some some has a higher charge than others.

importing from Asia however I've never been stung. I'm just going to wait for the UK release.

Anyone know of a good site or blog to follow the developing news etc? I'm starting to get excited for this thing!

Nothing directly. Most of anything i find is on the various threads that appear on NeoGAF but there has been other stuff from general gaming sites like joystiq, urogamer and ign. TBH I'm updating this thread with as much as I can as is Stig. I'll start a new one at some point that has a nice structured OP with details and links and stuff.

Yeah that's what I thought. Could end up costing pretty much the same in which case it's not worth the hassle.

Me and my partner go over to Vegas for 2 weeks of luxury every other year and so will no doubt go in 2012 but i'm not waiting until July to get the Vita!!
I'd rather just pay UK price.

Unless it gets delayed, in which case i'll just see what happens.

Besides, I have over £200 of Amazon vouchers from 3 months of doing surveys during my lunch break at work, and that's after recently spending £150 of them! hehe.

where you do the surveys ?

lol, well it doesn't work as well for everyone. I've given them to some friends after showing my Amazon vouchers list and they don't get many. (i've received over £1500 in vouchers since mid 2009..and >£500 cash). Sometimes it dries up a bit, other times i get flooded with them and can't keep up.

You may only get offered £1 for a 20-30 minute survey. Not a lot, but the trick is that once you've done a lot you get used to the layout and now that 20-30 minute survey takes me about 10-15 minutes.

Also, you have to be willing to give out personal details. Although to be honest, for 2 years i've had no increase in junk mail from doing so.

I'm registered with many sites. (if you want you can PM e-mail address and i can send a referal - then i get a little extra too!)

newvistalive
globaltestmarket
valued opinions
panel base
toluna
ipsos interactive
gfk
harris poll
mindmover

Those are the main earners for me.

You don't get much, so i'd never do this at home. But if you can do them at work then it's a nice little earner to be honest once you get going. It can take a while to get going because you won't hit your first payout for a few months. But once you get to that point you have payouts coming in regularly.

Not all pay in amazon vouchers, some pay cash. You may also win prize draws too. I won £100 once and many £5 and £2 vouchers.

The beginning is the worst as you'd have to create a profile with each site. But it really can be a nice bit of extra money to fund a hobby such as gaming.

Oh, and Topcashback works too and is legit. Buy things online from TCB site and get often 5-10% back! Again, it's nowt amazing but it makes most things you ever buy cheaper. You can even get paid to sign up to these survey sites above (some of them) and also sign up to free trials. (especially lovefilm).

Nice pics Todge. I'm really looking forward to this. Build quality is very important to me in a handheld and this doesn't look to dissapoint, is it supposed to be decent qulity? I was very dissapointed in the 3DS's.
