damn it my gold membership card will not arrive until wednesday at the earliest and it won't let me have it without a gold account.....

Can you still find one month free offers about?

Installed the demo last night and have had a bit of a play, absolutely loving it so far. Graphically it's certainly a step up from the previous game, car models are stunning and the interiors are a huge improvement. Textures aren't a huge leap, but have a more natural colour pallete than FM3. The biggest improvement in the visuals (after the car models) is the lighting engine, it really is gorgeous. The only real negative I have about the visuals is the unrealistic swaying of the trees, it just doesn't look natural at all, but that's a minor gripe, overall the game looks gorgeous and a lot less sterile than FM3 too.

Physics wise it feels great, the cars feel more 'planted' and you can tell the tyre model is improved over the previous game. The Subaru particularly feels just how it should, it behaves just like the real car does on the edge. I must say that the Mercury (muscle car) was strange, it feels heavy and oversteery just like it should but it seems waaaay too easy to hold a massive high speed drift. Huge fun, but it just seems a little too easy, and yes I do have all assists off. The Ferrari feels fantastic though, it behaves just as you would expect it to.

AI seems improved too.

Overall it's pretty much all I was expecting and hoping for, can't wait for the full game now

found a deal 3 months gold for £7.50 so have had that and will add on my 14 months that are coming in the post.

all hail the 50mb connection downloaded in about 5 minutes.... off to have a play now!

Stupid question, but you have to have the box on at home for remote dl to work don't you? :D /blonde moment

Yes, but you can still add it to your download queue, then it will download as soon as you turn your Xbox on at home.

I just added it to mine, so when I get home, I can turn the box on and go for a shower etc, then it'll be downloaded ready :D

Yeah, it's all a bit luck of the draw as to where the traffic is. I got a couple of cracking laps in which got invalidated after the AI forced me up the outside kerb...

yeah i know, but i wanted to sample the tech more than anything,, if i wanted to play a racing game i would play on my pc with my momo wheel

Just had a few laps in the scooby and 458, wow what an improvement, in simulation mode the handling seems an awful lot more lively and realistic (not that I've ever driven any cars like these), the rumble strips and driver input when in a drift also affect your grip a lot more dynamically. When a drift goes wrong and the tires grip again, the weight shift actually throws you the other way which is going to make things a lot more interesting.

The graphics seem a lot better which is bizarre since there's now twice as many cars on the track! Mirrors seem a lot easier to look in to, I think I might use the cockpit view a lot more than bumper from now on.

I haven't been following F4's progress but can you customise the quick race options more in this one? It's extremely frustrating not being able to chose how many laps you want to race for in F3.

Think of Kinect as an added bonus. 95% of the players won't have more than a passing interest in it. It's just there because T10 could do something cool and interesting with it to make the game accessible to new players. They realise that you can't race seriously with Kinect outside the headtracking.

It's worth giving Forza a fair go, the community features make the game.
