What motivates you to make you hit the Gym?

gym - nothing
body pump - because i like to push myself and like the company
cycling/spinning - medical reasons as my knees been rebuilt so it's the best form of keeping it strong before i get arthritus.

Nowt. I'm a cardio monkey and I find nothing stranger than folks travelling to the gym to run nowhere or sit on a bike that doesn't move.

What motivates me to exercise is my kid(s). I want to be running round and playing football with them when we are all old enough to know better.

This is another major one for me actually.

My Dad is a very fit guy, I can't imagine what it would've been like to have a Dad that couldn't do all the fun stuff parents are supposed to do.

I want to be bigger, stronger, faster and fitter; what's not to like?

+1

the best motivation is when someone compliments me, if they ask me something gym related, etc.

for example i went to a party and my mate noticed my shoulders were a lot bigger, as i had started to focus on them a lot more.

now im focussing on my back as i think its lagging.

also get the wow your looking fitter, have you been working out, etc.

also big guns and big wheels. whats not to like?

i do find though, to make a substantial difference normally takes 3 months of solid work, therefore you have to put in 3 months before others and yourself start to notice the change. thats why a lot of people give up after a month or two because they dont see a difference and neither do others. it takes 3 months solid minimum imo.

High-Level: The desire to constantly push the boundary and evolve - to be more than I am - stronger, harder, faster.

Low-Level: Can be hard to pick yourself up after a working day and taking care of the kids, but you always feel better after a workout, no matter how crap you feel before one :)

I like looking after myself, I like to be powerful, I like the fitness aspect, I like the fact that look better for it and feel better for it. It helps to remove stress, it keeps me from doing nothing. I prefer doing team sports however, but the gym serves as a good stop gap.

My no homo man love and aduration for FF motivates me :p

Err....seriously? Well i often want to recover the glory i had 'back in the day' when i looked and felt a lot better.
I often think "yeah, but i'm too old for that now", but then i do look at guys like FF and others on here, who are approx. my age and can still do it.
I try to shame myself with all the self name-calling i can handle.....don't always work! :(

Edit: did some grid sprinting with my lad on saturday as part of his off-ice national squad training.....i'm dying right now, hips, knees, adductors....all gone to hell.
And i've made the foolhardy decision to start back at kendo tomorrow night.....after 3 years sabbatical.
