"alcohol is at least twice as harmful to users than cannabis and 5 times more harmful to society"

It's kwerk, the irony is that he lives in a country when anyone can get a gun with no problem. Also he takes live weapons when he goes to the park with his kids.

Anyone in this state can get a medical marijuana card as well and legally buy it or grow it at home.

I was a everyday user for about 10yrs, smoking a mixture of weed and solid, I knocked it on the head over a year ago now and feel fantastic for it, I got to the point where I lost all motivation for anything and found myself smoking more and more, It affected my work, social life and family life. Mentally I just couldnt be a!£%d to do anything.

The penny finally dropped, when at work, doing a two storey extension, I was cutting joists for the for the floor support and I cut them 12 inches too short and then in the same day fell off the scaffold and broke my wrist in two places, at that point I knew it was the weed that made me too complacent and even my mate, who has worked with me for 12yrs said he noticed how lapse I had become, Luckily for me I only broke my wrist, sometimes you just have to take the warning signs.

You'll be singing a different tune after an addict high on cannabis breaks in to your house in search of cash for his next "fix", and murder-rapes your whole family. It's illegal for a reason.

Man with agenda comes up with statistics to support that agenda... Surprising.

Is "other things are worse" really a valid argument for legalising something?

pretty sure he is right, all my years of smoking cannabis has only ever bought on severe cases of talking absolute rubbish and a bad case of laughter and munchies lol hardly criminal :p

For anecdotal reasons this is horribly wrong. Seen one of my best friends turn into a gibbering mess after 6-7 years of heavy usage (he got sectioned which wasn't nice)

Alcohol is not much better in comparison so the logical conclusion is both should be banned, not both legal....

I'm an ex cannabis smoker too. I loved the stuff and its culture and still do love it. But I developed an Anxiety Disorder and I think smoking weed was part of it (though my doctor said I was going to get it eventually anyway). As much as I hate to say it, I think it does affect you mentally and probably shouldn't be legalized for these reasons. But then on the other side of that, how many people are alcoholics and suffer liver problems etc.
I would still smoke it now if I could, but it makes me really ill if I try, which I am sure is a good thing lol. I actually miss it. I still say its better than alcohol though, I would much rather meet someone who smokes weed than a drunk.

Be grateful you only got a bit of anxiety for your trouble and not psychosis thrown into the mix as well!

iv been smoking weed for about 11 years now, and iv never broken into anyone's house, murdered and stole from them, iv got a full time job, have a car less than 12 months old, girlfriend and a son, a few of my mates are in the same situation, similar stories, none have turned to crime for it, i don't have any side effects from it like a vast majority of people, but then its similar to alcohol, it affects people in different manners, the thing that always sticks in my mind, is the cannabis substance has never killed anyone, whereas alcohol.....well we all know the kinds of numbers that involves, the government wont legalize it, because they cant tax it, if its legal, then people can grow it themselves, just like we can make our own alcohol at home, i personally fell on the fence with this one, i would actually like it to be legalized, but, on the other hand, i think it would make it too easy for people to smoke it and go driving, now i know this already happens, but with it being illegal, it makes it harder for people to get, and less drug driving, but if its legal, easier to get, well i think it would produce more people driving after smoking it, which really affects your driving, i had to try it once in a family emergency and i was the only one with a licence, it was a horrible experience i do not wish to repeat.
