"alcohol is at least twice as harmful to users than cannabis and 5 times more harmful to society"

Ok, I'd agree that a lot of the people in here who want it to be legalised are users who would like to use a drug that hasn't been cut/grown with all kinds of junk, without having to fraternise with criminal elements to get it nor have to break the law and risk punishment for doing nothing more than the equivalent of going to the off license and buying a case of beer for the weekend.

:)

i dont smoke it anymore but i dont see the harm in legalising it for the people who do it as a weekend relaxer.

people are so brainwashed into believing its evil its unlikely to ever get legalised though

As has been said countless times on this site alcohol has been in use and legal for many 1000's of years. Drugs are newer for the wider population and we still do not know the full effects of cannabis.

Recorded use of Cannabis goes back ~5000 years....

Mankind has enjoyed getting high/drunk/stoned whatever from the dawn of time....sure, no recreational drug is "good" for you, but you know what, who cares?

The term is recreational. Drugs are taken because they are enjoyable it's as simple as that, whether it be a beer, a joint, a line of coke - whatever an adult wants to put into their body for their own recreation is their own business.

Now, like I said before, if after taking said drug you then cant control yourself and end up exhibiting anti-social behaviour, say for example : beating someone up (drunk), or becoming violent and aggressive and smashing up restaurants (bullingdon club cocaine boys) or eating all the munchies (stoned) then appropriate punishment by the state should be enacted.

You obviously missed the news from the BBC that the Dutch are going to clamp down on 'drug tourism' due to the problems they have suffered from foreigners.

lol

And you clearly missed the news that has been going on for a few years now that they are going to do that - the FACT is the whole thing is just at a proposal stage and won't even be discussed at Dutch parliament until at least 2012.

This is all totally disregarding the fact the whole thing was only suppose to be implemented in the south, such as in Maastricht, as its so easy to hop on a train from Belgium or wherever near the border and buy what you need then jump back on the train. Ive done the Brussels - Maastricht and back to Brussels train trip more then once.. :D Most recently a couple of months ago and hey I had no problem buying what I wanted..

But anyway in addition to this, it was never intented to be implemented nationally, and the Mayor and council of Amsterdam totally oppose the idea and have said it will NOT be implemented in Amsterdam.

And exactly what 'problem' from foreigners? No coffeeshop has ever been charged under any public service act and are known for how peaceful and chilled out they are!

I guess as someone who doesn't drink, has never done drugs and never smoked, I'm just more evolved than the average person ;)

:D

And you are perfectly entitled to that life choice, you may not live longer than the rest of us, but it'll certainly feel like it ;):p

A friend of mine who is a habitual cannabis smoker once told me the only dangerous thing in the joint he was smoking was the tobacco - perhaps someone can correct me if I'm wrong with that?

Complete nonsense. The effect it had on a bloke I went to uni with was massive. After a few years of smoking nearly every day his memory was completely screwed.

Having said that I still think it should be decriminalised.

Bloody hell, some of the people on this forum are pretty shocking.

Smoking cannabis in moderation is no problem. Work all day/night get home and have a joint or a pipe. No different than coming home at night and having a glass of wine. Usually the people that develop problems sit around smoking it all day, every day. Obviously this is going to be bad for you, but so would sitting around drinking lager or eating food all day. People just need to be a bit more mature and discipline themselves. Then the rest of us could enjoy things without fear of prosecution.

If you're more evolved then I guess it's in our best interests to murder you to preserve our gene pool.

Get your pitch forks folks we gotta kill the mutie.

Except they still don't know the effects of use /long term or otherwise. They are banning tabacco slowly because of its health problems.

Resin known as solid can be cut with different agents to get more volume. A little list of some of the more well known rubbish sometimes mixed in with the cannabis resin are as follows.
  1. ,beeswax
  2. , turpentine
  3. , milk powder
  4. , ketamine
  5. , boot polish
  6. , henna
  7. , pine resin
  8. , aspirin
  9. , animal feces
  10. , ground coffee
  11. , barbiturates
  12. , glues and dyes
  13. carcinogenic solvents such as Toluene and Benzene

What rubbish. Barbiturates? Please, not only are they worth more than cannabis (same with ketamine) but they are non existent these days, I think the last time I heard of them being on the black market was in the 70's. It wouldn't even be worth the persons time to cut it with half that stuff.

to late in the day to start changing it plus government would loose to much out of it in taxs etc

too late inthe day?

we've been around for over 50 thousand years laws introduced in the last few centuries aren't exactly game changing when you think we'll probbaly be around for another 50k.
