I built my dream pc this week to be able to play the latest games

CPU: i5 2500k
MB: Asrock Extreme 4 Gen 3
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
GFX: 6950 Twin Frozr III GFX
SSD: 128GB Crucial M4
HD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda
Case: Silverstone Raven RV03 Case
PSU: Corsair TX750
Monitor: Dell U2312HM
Speakers: Acoustic Energy Aego 2.1 Speakers
Keyboard: Sidewinder X6
Mouse: Logitech G500 Mouse

Problem is i've downloaded:

Crysis
Anno 1404
Mass Effect 2
BFBC2
Prototype
Dragon Age Origins
The Witcher 2
Just Cause 2
World at War
Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty
Supreme Commander
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Deus Ex: Human Revolution

And none of the games are really gripping me, i mean the graphics are incredible, but im getting bored and closing the games. I used to get a new game and be obsessed for weeks and I used to love it. I feel a bit down that i've spent so much on basically an xbox 360 with incredible graphics.

I stopped playing warcraft in january this year and I played black ops on xbox 360 those are the last times iI felt the buzz of gaming, i've had the odd moment with mass effect 2 and bfbc2 but not enough to get me lost in the game. Im downloading WoW again now. Hopefully i can recapture some of the joy i used to get from gaming.

I would recommend trying these games again, both have great story and game play:

Mass Effect 2
Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Also wichter 2 is meant to be great but I have yet to try it.

yeah witcher 2 looks promising, i played it for a couple hours today but i got stuck quite early on, it's pretty hard compared to other games i've played in the genre

You can't have played much of these games in a week!

Maybe you've just been over-exposed. You suddenly have access to all the best games and you can't settle on just one. A similar thing happened to me when i built my PC. I spent the first few weeks flicking between loads of top games before i settled down and i believe the first game i played all the way through was Crysis. I loved it and from then on i played lots of games right through.
They are all story driven, do you not like that type of game?
All of the games you listed there are first class imo. You knew about them before downloading them right? It's probably just a phase and like i said, you will settle down:)

If i had the choice to play through one of those games for the first time again, it would be Dragon Age Origins, or maybe Oblivion.

Hey, Pighardia, i think you might be right, i've just upgraded from a 8 year old pc that couldn't play any recent games, and i've spent about 12 months dreaming of being able to max out games like crysis. I find myself constantly looking at gamespot for new games to download instead of just relaxing into a game I already have.

I've just been made redundant but luckily found a new job which starts next month so i have 4 weeks of time i can spend gaming and having fun so I just need to chose a game.

I have a feeling im gonna get hooked on WoW again for 6 months or so, it'll be the 4th time i've turned to it lol

Mass Effect 2
Just Cause 2
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

You're doing them wrong.

Played ME1? Play that first. Take the time to get into it. I had to give it two tries for it to get me (ME1).
Just Cause 2. It's pretty awesome. Controls are a little funky. Many "interesting" mods available.
Oblivion. Again, take the time to get into it. Your first character will most likely be crap. Accept this. On your second character you will know how you want to play it and level up and it will be better.

I'll download ME1 tonight, I have to say ME2 is my favourite out of all the games i played so far, im not too keen on the gameplay but i find, not so much the story but the theme really exciting. I love sci-fi books and especially Isaac Asimov stuff and it conjures up those sorts of feelings. I just find the acual gameplay abit lackluster.

Yea download mass Effect 1 and complete that first not only will you understand the story better, but the choices you make in the ME1 will effect ME2 & 3.

Another good game is metro 2033 one of my favorite games on pc, the story and the atmosphere is great its base on a russian novel. Its took me about 12 hours to complete so should be quick fix.

I would also recommend Portal, Half life 2, team fortress 2 ( Free game), Fallout 3 & Vegas

A few strategy games: Command & conquer 3, Total war series, Warcraft 3

Gratz on the pc btw :)

Your maybe trying to play too many games at once its a problem i have i found when you have so many games to play its hard to focus on one.

I would try games that a easy to just jump in and out of. Team fortress 2, left for dead 2. Try the first portal once of the few games i actually finshed.

Dragon age for example takes about 5 hours before it gets good imo. Mass effect as some one suggest you need to play the first one it will get you hyped up for the second and even more so for the upcoming 3rd.

I would aviod wow if i was you its a big waste of time and money. you spend ages gearing up running the same raids over and over only for your gear to become out of date and having to do it all again. If you anything like me you will get your gear then just become bored.

Same issue I have been having with games. I found if you give them that little extra attention over the first few hours your playtimes will start increasing each time you boot it up and you will start getting so much more out of an game.

Buying lots of games at once doesn't help with this, you tend to find you don't enjoy any of them as much.

You've bought too many games. Buy one to play through before getting the next. Do you have that feeling of anxious guilt? trying to pick one to play, but knowing all the others are there to play eats away at you so you end up not playing any? :P

Classic Steamsaleitis.

A game I found myself completely immersed in is/was the Bioshock series - do give them a go, they are absolutely fantastic.

I get this exact problem from time to time, you just got to sit through the game and you'll eventually get drawn in. I'd probably give ME2 a chance before you right it off, another fantastic game.

I agree with others, could be over exposure. Too many games at once.
This last year i've played 1 game at a time and played/completed quite a few and enjoyed almost all of them.

Then in the last month I bought a PC and downloaded a dozen games. My friends seem to flick between games everyday and I just played what they were playing. Found myself getting bored very quickly.
I had been enjoying Dead Island on PS3 but couldn't even be bothered to continue that.

Anyway, since ditching the PC for a week and concentrating on Dead Island I suddenly loved it again.
I think it's hard to get into long games, or story driven games if you play too many at once. Pick 1 and ignore the rest then work through them 1 by 1.

Absolutely too much too soon.

I may even go as far as to uninstall most of those games to remove temptation of nipping in and out of them.... it gets a bit shallow.

Definitely pick a series..... ME1 for example... I loved doing ME1 - ME2 b2b.
