There will be an IP5 or a 4s with new design
Apple will loose lots of business buy just introducing a tweaked 4
if thats the case then so be it, but my money is still on new design

TheNextWeb offers some last minute information based on "sources familiar" with the situation.
Sources familiar with Apple’s plans have revealed to us that Apple will indeed debut the new iPhone 4S today, featuring an 8-megapixel camera with “enhanced optics” and “more definitive GPS features” thanks to Apple’s new A5 processor.
Their report mirrors much of what has been expected. Apple will released an iPhone 4S today with an 8-megapixel camera and an A5 processor. The only new information is the claim that the new iPhone will have "more definitive GPS features". The site doesn't clarify what those might be.

They also report that the teardrop "iPhone 5" design that we've seen for months is a prototype iPhone "which won't be available any time soon" and the iPhone 4S will have the same dimensions as the iPhone 4. The focus of the new device will be the Assistant recognizer that we've previously profiled.

Are you seriously suggesting Apple intentionally target people with small hands? :confused:
 
My prediction -

iPhone 4 --> 8GB, reduced cost version replacing 3GS.
iPhone 4S --> A5, 8 megapixel camera, 1GB ram.
New iPod touch --> 4.5" screen, tapered design (aka iPad mini)
iPod classic discontinued.

Me --> annoyed by the lack of a redesign.

There is definitely going to be a huge feature on Assistant imo, seeing as they purchased it for $200 Million! and renamed it "Assistant".

Most probably, the whole AI and generic speech of changing everything again :p

What are you talking about? The A5 in the iPad 2 has a Cortex A9 clocked at 1GHz, SGS2 uses the same CPU clocked at 1.2GHz.

Now it's likely the version in the iPhone 5 will be clocked higher but we don't know so to claim it's faster is nonsense. Samsung has already announced 1.5GHz versions in upcoming products and quad core versions early next year.

Now the A5 does have an advantage when it comes to the GPU though.

The OS is looking progressively old due to the lack of animation / widgets / dynamically updating icons. iOS 5 isn't going to fix this.

Apologies, should have been clearer. The graphical capability is far greater. Which kinda makes the slight difference in CPU Mhz irrelevant.

But yes, once Samsung pull out their Galaxy 3, an iPhone 4S is going to start to look weak again.
 
I think it's looking pretty obvious now, Apple are going to announce an iPhone 4GS, and an 8gb iP4 to replace the 3GS. Sure, they could have announced/released it months ago but they've spent the last few months getting The Assistant to the point where it 'just works'. They will play it up like it's the second coming of Christ and hope to shift lots of 4GS handsets on the back of it.

And my toys will be firmly out of the pram :(

To be fair, if people are that bothered about having a larger screen and something different, the Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation are both very decent phones. They are also a LOT cheaper on contract.

Google are announcing the new Nexus Prime on the 11th of October and that will probably be pretty awesome. It's Android and not iOS but Android is progressively getting better with apps, etc. It still has a long way to go though.

If those people can't get on with Android, it will last them until the actual iPhone 5 at least.

Still... waiting... :mad: :(

At this point however, imagine how AMAZING it would be if Job's appears for a one last thing and whips his 4" iPhone 5 out!
