Forza 4

so,i have question - what is good (but not most expensive) wheel for x360?
Fanatec GT2?original M$ wheel?
As i want - finally - to drive this forza with wheel, just cant spend to much
Thanks for advice

The Microsoft wheel has been discontinued, so the only place you'll get one is eBay. To be honest, I would rule this option out completely unless you can find it very cheap, as most auctions for the wheel seem to go for silly money (relative to the quality of the wheel anyway).

The problem with the X360 is that you either go for a POS wheel or an extremely expensive wheel. I personally went for a Fanatec GT2 a couple of weeks ago, but I could only justify the cost because I play more than Forza on my PC (DiRT 3, F1 2011, FVA).

I think there are some Madcatz wheels coming out (or maybe they are already), but a lot of people are saying on the Forza forums that they're way too expensive for what will inevitably be a lower quality product compared to Fanatec's offerings (i.e., near Fanatec prices, but inferior design). But I guess you could check their [Madcatz's] website to see what you think.

Anyway, your call really. If you can justify the cost, you won't beat Fanatec for build quality and design. If not, just go with whatever Madcatz's cheapest X360 compatible offering is.

On a completely unrelated note: the only issue I have with my setup is that in order to play Forza, I need to rotate my 32" TV round so that it's face where I sit to play on my PC. Annoyingly I have a double bed in front of my chest of drawers (where my TV is situated), so obviously can't put a stand there. My bedroom is quite large, but I don't want to go rearranging my room just so I can sit in front of my TV properly. Maybe I'll I use the 40" in the living room when there isn't anyone around. :p

Whatever you do, don't get the early Madcatz wheel, the MC2.

I paid a tenner for it and I was robbed. It went back on ebay within days.

Dont forget the new wireless controller.
It did seem to be getting pretty good reviews and might be a good alternative to pad players.

Mind you ibert will probably be quicker than us all with using Kinect for heavens sake. ;)

Thought this was a concept idea that got scrapped?

Would be perfect for me, however I can imagine the latency between moving the thing and seeing a response would be immense...

It's not concept and it's probably no more latent than a standard wireless controller.

Although it will be crap.

On sale at Amazon...

I'd be curious to try one, but it's not going to be able to manage the same force feedback as a proper wheel, given that it's not going to be fixed to anything.

I'm what you guy's would deem an extremely casual Forza driver, I tend to always be in the 45-55% bracket of lap timings. Now my opinion wouldn't be the greatest on the subject but I have ordered one of the new Microsoft Wheels just out of curiosity more than anything. I should get it with the game from Shopto on release so I'll let you know what its like.

Oh, thanks for the link! I would love to try it as I am rather good with the pad, but sometimes it does put a glass pane feeling between you and the driving experiance. Looking at what you are doing but not really feeling the feedback... If you get what I mean.

I would go out of my way to head into a Game or something to test it out if they had it on display.

My main worries would be the latency, the dead zone and the accuracy.

Awsome :D

I am always in the 9-7% mark on laptimes on FM3 and was in the demo for FM4... With a pad, so if you bring back great results about the wheel, I might invest :D

I'm not a fan of consoles, I have a very high end PC rig. But I'm a fanatic for racing games, is an Xbox worth buying alone just to play this game, do you think?

Yes.

Nothing on the PC can get anywhere close to the vast majority of licenced cars you can drive.

Ok so the driving isn't exactly like a sim but it's very good and everything else like sounds is top notch.

Depends do you have a wheel for the PC and if so is it xbox compatible...

Had a quick go last night on the demo. Probably 10 laps or so with the Ferrari. Didn't hook up my wheel I just had a go with the pad. Feels lovely and looks just stunning. The in-car view is the best I have seen in any racer previously.

9 days to go then!

For the chap asking about getting a 360 purely for Forza, buy both FM3 and 4 when you do... Hundreds, if not thousands of hours involved :D
