6950 or 6970

Yes, at least for now - if you're happy with the performance.

My only problem I have with my current card is that I have high settings enable with HBAO off and only getting 40 fps on BF3 BETA for example yet the final build I will probably get less as I hear some video settings have been disabled and with the full 64 player field as well and on Crysis 2 I am only getting 35 (if I am lucky) FPS on Directx 11 Extreme settings with motion blur on medium and high res off.

Would a Nvidia be the best bet and my gaming resolution and give me the better FPS over my current card?

Yeah, good choice. The Gainward one is a tenner cheaper but with only one very brief review to back it up, I'd still be inclined to agree and head for the MSI. Generally people seem to have positive things to say about them which is encouraging, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if the MSI runs cooler and quieter. However, if your case doesn't have adequate ventilation, bear in mind that the MSI won't exhaust all of the heat out of the case like in theory the Gainward would.

What's the rest of your spec btw? Cpu, ram etc?

Ok so if I was to go with the MSI one I assume it would run well alongside a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2GHz, 8GB Crosair Vengeance DDR3, 800W PSU

No worries at all, though I would look into pushing the cpu further than 3.2, especially if your are playing online games, where cpu power tends to be relied upon as much as the gpu on some occasions.

Check out my edit in my previous post re : case ventilation. It shouldn't be a problem, but it's worth spending a moment to make sure that the card you choose would be a sensible purchase.

Just seen it matey. I have a Coolermaster HAF 912 Plus that has a 200mm Fan at the front 1 120mm fan at the back two 120mm fans on the top and 140mm fan in the side. Would that be good enough?

Well, reading the comments made by others, it would seem to be a mid tower of the more spacious variety. Therefore I don't see why it wouldn't be good enough for the MSI.

Yeah it can fit up to an 11 inch card in and even bigger if I was to remove hard drive surround but then where would I put my hard drives lol. Comparing the MSI to my current card seems to be a decent improvement on what I currently have. Would that seem a reasonable statement?

I'm adjourning for luncheon :D, I'll be back later. I'm sure someone will pop on and give their two cents in the meantime. :)

I have about 30 minutes to decide on whether to get a MSI GTX 570 OC Power Edition.

Would this be a sensible decision.

Any help appreciated.

I see from your other thread that you were picking up a 570. So, what are your thoughts? Happy with it? :)

Morning mate,

Yeah I decide screw it and went and brought one and I am glad I did. Wow.

Just as a quick comparison. On F1 2011 in the dry on my 6950 I was getting 48-50 FPS average and this one I am getting 60 but that is in the wet.

Battlefield 3 on high settings with HBAO turned off I was getting 45. With the same settings I am now getting 63 FPS average and that was outside. I turned it up to Ultra and I am getting 61 outside and 71 inside. (I know the graphics are locked down on that game tho. Well apparently they are).

And I am getting 35 FPS average on Crysis 2 maxed out and have only lost like 7 from my old card but that was on extreme settings in DX11 with motion blur to low.

Thanks for all your help man much appreciated.
