ok im going to be weights and measures to an up and coming outing and need some drinking game ideas and songs......

Im an ex rugby player so not really an issue, but this group has a load of girls playing so will need to be a little different.

so lets the games commence!

first drinking song is father abraham which is easy and a bit of fun.

International drinking rules. Is always fun and gets everyone drunk, it's great as well because it's a game you can play at a bar, pub, club etc, you don't need to be sat around a table.
http://www.internationaldrinkingrules.com/
I play it with a variation of number 7, a full glass can not be put down. If you break any of the rules you have to down what ever you have. Oh and then there is the 'Green Man' rule; you have to pretend a little man is on the rim of your glass/bottle/etc and every time you take a drink you must pick him off have a sip and then put him back.

Centurion is a KILLER, me and a friend did it as pre drinks and did over 100 shots of beer in cider. We then went to the pub to wait for the train where i fell asleep face down on the table and then thew up at the train station at which point I decided I couldn't deal with a train journey. So i walked home (at around 11), unlocked the door (which took a few attempts) and then got in to see my mum and dad sat watching TV at which point I asked "why are you two still up" because I had thought I had been out and that it was around 4am.

Although I did play Centurion on an empty stomach which was not a great idea.

Fives!! Can't find many explanations to cut and paste from the web.

Often incorporated into a ring of fire / bucket of justice, fives involves each player holding their hand out in a fist to start with. Each player then takes it in turn to shout a multiple of five (or zero) whilst the others decide whether to open their hand into a five or to keep it closed.

Timing is everything and if the person guesses the correct total of all the fives (players with their hands open), they are out of the game and can avoid drinking the savage concoction of booze awaiting the last person left in the game.

Once the first person has had their go, if your hand is open you must keep it open until the next person has their turn. As they shout their total (e.g. "20") you must either close you hand or keep it open. No late movements and certainly no clawing allowed.

Or... Nine Heads! You only need a coin. Everyone takes a turn flipping the coin, if they flip a head then you add one to the total number of heads. Whoever flips the ninth head has to neck their drink (keep going round the circle until 9 heads have been thrown). Then start all over again from no heads. It makes for some high drama!

Person 5: (throws tails) "7 heads!"
Person 6: (throws heads) "8 heads!"
Person 1: (throws tails) "8 heads!"
Person 2: (throws tails) "8 heads!"
Person 3: (throws tails) "8 heads!"
Person 4: (throws heads)
Everyone: "9 HEADS!!!! Hahahahahah neck it!!!"
Person 4: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" (necks drink)

That's about 6 pints in an hour and a half, right? Doesn't sound that tough.

Depends on the measures you use, 25ml or 35ml are both common which makes a bit of difference to the end result consumed but it's pretty tough because of the constant pace and the additional air consumed by shotting all the time. I've not done it myself but I've been around during the game being played and I wouldn't underestimate the difficulty.

If you've got a pack of cards, a shot glass, some paper and an empty beer bottle then you can play a game called karten blasen (card blowing), essentially you place the pack of cards on top of the beer bottle and take it in turns to blow off cards with one continuous breath during your go. If you fail to blow off a card you drink a shot, if you blow all the cards off you take a shot but if you manage to remove all but one card then the person prior to you has to drink the shot. It's quite good fun and the rules aren't complex so is a good game to play with people who don't like the complicated games, the papers not really needed except that you can add a little bit extra challenge by ensuring that the shot glass is replaced within the circle (flip the shot glass and draw round the top of it, the top being wider than the bottom usually) but if that isn't achieved there's a forfeit shot to drink as well.

If you want to find out more about your comrades then "I have never" is a good game to play, I'll explain it later if the concept isn't obvious.

We play "thumbs" if no one has a pack of cards.

Someone puts their thumb on the edge of the table saying nothing.. then someone notices and puts their thumb down also saying nothing... and so on. The last person to notice their thumb isn't down and they haven't got it down in time before everyone else is to drinks two fingers.

Sounds like an awful concept but it's fun as you can set people up etc. also people make allegiances and then break them as you start trusting people to tell you when the thumb is down, they don't and you get caught out... etc. Can cause lots of banter and lots of fun for a game amongst other games.

Best drinking games from my experience at uni and beyond:

General
Fives
Slammer, Slider, Spider - need 50p
21s
Bunnies
Yeeha Howdown
Drink While You Think

Cards
Pyramids
**** the dealer
Ring of Fire

Dice
Mexicali
3 man

Also Beer pong is awesome of course. Also, I'd bring in rules like international drinking rules, gentlemens rules, and thumb master as the night goes on. If your a pro that is.

Please fully star swearwords!

Roxanne.

Stick Roxanne by Sting and the Police on, every time he says "Roxanne" or "Red Light" you take a drink.
Gets messy when it gets to the chorus...

21:

each person takes it in turn to say a maximum or 3, minimum of 1 number; once you have counted up to 21, someone creates a rule to replace a number.

so, instead of 5 you have to moon one of the group

person 1: 1, 2
person 2: 3
person 3: 4
person 4: *drops trousers in front of girl*
person 5 6, 7, 8

etc

drinking comes in when you get to number 21, meaning a hefty swig, and every time someone forgets one of the newly created rules to replace numbers. we did it so instead of a forfeit for forgetting a number, you drank whilst you thought of what it should be, so sometimes, if you're really stuck, you get through about 2-3 beers trying to remember :p
