I'm really concerned about micro-stuttering, especially as I play such a vast number of games, most of which definitely aren't designed for crossfire.

So my questions:
Does a 6950x2 setup stutter?
Will I be able to run 3 monitors off of a 6950x2 and also have them mainly focus on the game (probably in the middle monitor)?
I hear x3 crossfire setup alleviates stutter, is this true?
Which 6950 brand is the best? (I hear MSI)
If I wanted to 6950 trifire, which brand of 6950 would support this?

And your general opinions on 6950x2 vs 6870x3 please.

Oh, fair enough. I've learnt something I didn't know. :)

Re : the other q's that I can add to : most people on the forum seem happy with their 6950 crossfire, so although stuttering can occur with either brand, the user can play a part as well. If it's relatively mild, some people may not even notice it. There was an article from Tom's posted on here not that long ago reporting that three gpu's tended to show less stutter than two.

Good brands generally held in high regard are ones like MSI and Gigabyte; these would be among my first choices. I hear good things generally about Sapphire as well.

As far as I know any brand of 6950 would be suitable for tri fire.

Sapphire makes the best 6950s by a considerable margin. Their Toxic series card has the fastest clocks out of all of the 6950s, plus the highest chance to unlock to a 6970 out of all the modern ones currently in production.

That's entirely true.

The only problem is that they're charging £280 for them now which is only £2 less than the cheapest full fat HD 6970.

No doubt due to there only being 5 left in stock.

Yeah I'd avoid the Toxics now at that pricepoint. I was considering them for my build when they were 230, but at 280 there's no way I can justify it.
Going for the Twin Frozr's now, and being 215 this week - bargain. I recommend them :)

I hope so. Just ordered a Twin FrozR III..

so would a 2xTwinfrozr III benefit me more or a 3x6870

I just upgraded to 2x6950.. Performance is excellent. Just been playing BF3 on maxed out settings and no noticeable slowdowns. Same with Metro 2033 (I Noticed one slow down at the start so far but not during heavy action scenes).

Hi Meloco, I just got 2x6950, what benchmark to you get in Heaven Bench? What CPU you using?
