I've gone for front & back protectors from phonedevil. They seem to have good reviews.

Still to decide on the case though.
 
Putting an iPhone in a case is daft IMO, might as well put bags over MacBook's and iMac's.

If you are that worried about it, put it in a sock.

You do put a bag around a Macbook/Laptop if your carrying it around town with you though dont you. My main concern with the phone is it slipping out of my hand. I dropped my 3GS once about 2 meters onto a tiled floor and luckily it was in case, it wouldn't have been in a sock at the time as I was using it. I agree it seems a shame to cover up such a beautiful phone but since I'm going to be using it for 2 years I'd rather keep it looked after.

None of my phones have been in a case (for long).

All sold for top dollar and look mint

I've dropped my 3GS a couple of times and it still looks fine. iPhones aren't made out of cheap plastic like other phones, any lasting damaged can be sorted via insurance.

My wife dropped hers and it certainly wasn't fine, the insurance claim was a hassle I'd rather not repeat too frequently.
 
Never liked a fixed case on the phone, had one for a while on the 3g just attracted dust. Just have a leather pouch case now for protection when in pocket.
 
Could anyone recommend a black/aluminium dock for the 4S? The official white one doesn't really go with the black iPhone and although I have no problem paying for Apple's hardware, their accessories on the other hand...
 
I'm extremely careful with my phone. Today i dropped it. it hit a bench. then fell face down onto concrete.

thankfully the case and screen protector stopped any damage from being done :D:p
