Just went out to the kitchen to grab myself a drink and spotted this little beasty on the side..

Anyone know what is it? It looks like some kind of spider wasp to me!

I live in proper country and have to say that I've never seen one of those before.

Put it in a jar and travel to the science museum with it.

They will love it.

Ladybird lavae, almost certainly, they look like little crocodiles before they do their thing and come out what you would normally think of as a Ladybird. If you can, go stick it on a plant with aphids on it, it will eat the crap out of them and hopefully become an adult, create thousands more and eat millions of god damned aphids between them.

Anyone who grows veg in their garden loves ladybirds and hates aphids.

That could be why its in my kitchen, I've just moved my chilli plants back in from outside and they're by my back door until I can find a home for them. They've got a few aphids on them so I'll stick him on there with them.

Can't believe I've made it through 28 years without ever seeing on of those before!

That looks far too much like the parasite from the 'Conspiracy' Next Generation episode for my liking.

I'm sending Patrick Stewart round to your house now to phaser your torso until it explodes.

It reminded me of a mini version of the creatures from an episode of the Outer Limits when I first spotted it! :D

It is the larvae of the Harlequin Ladybird.

Originally from Asia it is an invasive species - although they do eat Aphids, they also eat our native Ladybirds. It is a pest - kill it.

You might want to visit http://www.harlequin-survey.org/ to record your sighting.
