Jonny ///M which CO2 pump did you go for?

Just the Mpart one we get from madison.

Pro saddlebag, blackburn airstick 2 stage, mpart inflater and a couple of tubes. Sorted:)

Re. the co2 inflater. It feels better than the halfords ones I've used int he past and it actualyl screws onto the valve (both presta and schraeder) and it has a knob you open to let the air through.

The m-part one does the job for me.

www.tyre-inflators.co.uk do threaded and non-threaded 16g cartridges at £17.99 for 30. They also do 10 packs if you want fewer.

Blimey that's cheap, thanks! Tempted by one of the Innovation pumps from that site.

Why don't these CO2 pumps come with some sort of gauge rather than having to rely on guesswork when you've got to your favourite pressure?

Bought myself a front light from the Snap-On van this morning.

170 Lumen LED Lenser B7

Dunno why, I've never fancied commuting in the dark as it's dangerous enough when it's daylight. :D

LED Lenser :(

Hope you didn't pay more than about a tenner for it.

I guess its because they inflate the tyres so fast that a guage wouldnt be any use anyway.

Any good bulk purchases of AAA batteries? I'm hopefully going to be starting to ride again soon..
I got 12 Uniross Hybrio (like Eneloops but cheaper) from eBay for £9, seems to be about as cheap as you can find low self-discharge rechargeable AAAs.

I just had a bit of a bike related spending spree, and ordered myself a Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit U lock, an Abus Steel-O-Chain chain lock, a Kryptonite ground anchor for the garage, a Cateye cycle computer and a Fibre Flare for the Van Nicholas. I've also ordered a torque wrench, socket set and bit set, as I've had enough of not knowing if I've got my seat post & stem done up properly. I couldn't decide which pedal wrench to get, so I'll leave that for next pay day.

Does anyone here have a time-limited CRC voucher that they're not going to use? I had one that I posted here a few weeks ago for something like £10 off £75 spend that I received with another order.

I'm just about to buy £75+ worth of stuff anyway so just thought I'd ask on the off chance :).

A van that sells snap on tools? Some say they are overpriced.

Had two people in the shop already that got knocked down yesterday. One is £140 to fix and that driver thinks it's a lot of money! Explained that if she knocked my boss off she'd be £3+ if she had to snap a frame and damage a wheel.

Other guy is a 50+ Vet racer and is going to need a new bike as his Kula frame is cracked at the bottom bracket/seat tube weld!

On that subject will an insurance company pay out like for like on bikes? He paid around £800 for his kula a few years back and just spent £300 odd on it a few months back when I repaired it.

A new kula is £1500! Will they just offer him £800?

My latest purchases:

2x Specialised Armadillo 700 23c (in preparation for the gritting season)
2x Fibre Flares (awesome things these, people get really curious about them)

Does anyone here take protein supplements alongside cycling only? I'm quite a slender person but my only exercise is cycling. I'd like to at least get some more meat on my legs so to speak and was wondering if this would be a good start?

I'd say your best bet would be to increase your calorie intake. Just protein won't help a huge amount. You might also want to look into doing some good weight based exercises if you have access to a gym like squats or leg press.

I sometimes have a protein shake after a hard ride or a night time recovery drink (mostly protein) in the evening, purely to help with recovery.

Cycling, being an endurance exercise rather than a strength exercise, is not very good for building muscle. As far as i understand it (which isnt very far :p) something like cycling where you do a lot at a low power output is nowhere near as good for increasing muscle mass as doing an exercise with a large power output for a short number of reps (ie squats)
