Occupy London! Here we go again!

I was at the Newcastle event today, not that many people but it was still enjoyable. There's a (couple?) dozen camping out at monument.

Nothing much. Drumming, loudspeaker and police stopping people from getting onto the steps. Took some pictures, might upload them later.

Can someone tell me what's going on?

My net's very slow and twitter is "full" apparently...

Basically people around the world are protesting against corporate greed.

As if anyone will bloody listen, its just an excuse to get stoned and blame everyone else for societies problems.

I know why they're protesting I just can't find out what's going on, I've had reports via sms that the police have moved in and are breaking it up but can't verify it.

Lol yeah those companies MADE you buy those products, they FORCED you to take out loads you couldn't afford, they created products which make your life better and easier, they generate so much tax it would blow your mind and that then pays for all the nice things the government provide us with, infrastructure, pensions, welfare, healthcare, education..... they give people jobs, they give people a purpose in life, they give people income.

Frankly these hippies can go **** themselves and stop blaming the corporations for their own failures. Get back to school and study something other than art you thick *****.

I think you could probably guess. The same reason Occupy Wall Street has barely been mentioned at all until just recently?

Conspiracy!

Well, taking it into consideration, how do you move forward with this?

How long can people keep it up, and what is acceptable redress from this situation for the protestors?

Is it a likely eventuallity do you think?

I can't answer those questions, nor can anybody i know. It is what it makes of itself. If OWS is anything to go by, they could last some time. They could be the root of much more action to come. What makes the movement so different is that nobody has set any specific demands. It's just a lot of people who are angry going somewhere to be angry together :D:p

One thing's for sure though - if they want to do as their inspiration did in the Arab Spring, and overthrow their rulers then it will take a lot more effort than they did.
