Forza 4

i've finally been able to fire up forza over the weekend and i'm delighted to say that my sudden loss of skill compared to all my friends was because of the control setup.

i'm now into the swing of things and have released my first tune:

peugeot 908
R1: 998
type: grip
assists recommended (if any): TCS
tuned for: suzuka full (my usual testing ground)
cost: 10,000cr (my usual price)

times:
suzuka full: 5th, 2:04.6xx* #1 peugeot

how on earth i managed to get 5th i really dont know because i generally suck with R1 cars, and i'm not a top 10 driver. i must have got something right with the tune. with the traction on its a very nicely balanced car that, for a R1 car, is very easy to drive

not having owned any of the other R1 cars i cant tell you how it will compare to the other common R1 choices, but the time speaks for itself

*i'm 99% sure this was the time and place on the leaderboard when i set it late last night, but i'm very happy to be proved wrong

I'm really concerned about the lack of a turbo noise (other than a dump valve). For example, on the Hummer, you'd expect to be able to hear the turbo but there's not a whistle, and that's a HUGE diesel engine.

upgrade turbo to most powerful ;) add all other extras also..and you will see fire from diesel engine'd HAMMER exhaust lol

Got this friday, to go along with a wheelstandpro and official MS Steering Wheel a mate and I have had since Forza 3. Stopped playing it after a few months so decided to get this to get some use from it and definately have so far :D

Graphics are a nice step up, mainly due to the lighting (still want next gen now, can't stand the zig zagging lines always find them distracting) and handling definately feels more intricate playing with all assists off, simulation mode steering just braking line and manual no clutch.

Am a fan of cars but have never really been into them as don't drive myself, does anyone have any good guides for this with regards to upgrading yourself? I currently have a Camaro SS maxed in B class but to take it into A I want to focus on the handling mainly as it has enough speed but don't really know where to start aside from obvious things such as tires and definately don't know about how doing A affects B etc If anyone has any useful guides would be greatly appreciated!

My idiots guide to tuning (which is to say - I'm an idiot when it comes to tuning) would be to upgrade as much of the platform/handling stuff to race spec and then use a tuner on the web or your phone. I use the Forzatune app on my iPhone, which works pretty well. It's not been updated for Forza 4 yet, but it seems to be working OK with the Forza 3 maths in it. In real basic terms, you want to maintain traction and balance as much as possible, so stiffen the springs on your driving wheels and adjust the anti-roll bars to minimise body roll.

This merely takes time, guides can only help so far. Upgrade a part, test tune it slightly test again. Etc, etc.

Coming from F1 2011 on PC to this really isn't a great idea, everything is so slow and lethargic, and GFX wise, rough :o

Anyone else very underwhelmed by the game? I'm upto semi-pro in World Tour and feel like I've had enough already!

I've got a very short attention span when it comes to games, but Forza has kept me hooked, i love it.

Did you play Forza 3? (Or 2, 1 or any GT game for that matter?)

I'm just finding this type of racer becoming very stale, and the lack of new tracks in F4 is very disappointing especially as I thought a lot of the fictional ones from F3 (and even some RL locations) were pretty unexciting.

I only played Forza 3, but i wasn't as hooked on that as i am 4, i don't know what it is, but there is something strangely addictive about it.

I've played all the Gran Turismos.

Yeah the tracks could be better, but it's just the variety and differences in the cars! the power you can put down in some of them, with all assists off and snaking up the road while trying to keep the rear end of a RWD car in a straight line is some what of a excitement, especially when you slam a cars suspension to the floor and use cockpit view going as such speeds it's just bouncing around on the floor trying to get grip.

Love it.

There is so much more to do in this one too, Rivals is great as well.

Puzzled how Forza, with its huge variety of cars, driving styles, challenges, play styles, and general lists of things to do, can be getting stale fast compared to an F1 game, with its sole very stringent style of driving?

Maybe you just need to explore different modes a bit?

As much as i'm enjoying this, is anyone else finding the shadows and sun glare a bit 'too' good? Half the time i'm struggling to see where abouts i'm going.
