*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

The Sith Empire guild was founded in August, the Republic guild was made 3 days ago.

Hopefully after time the numbers should even out with more new members choosing republic and some people currently in the Sith guild joining the light side of the force.

The member difference doesn't concern me a huge amount at the moment, it should be okay by release.

EDIT: Ofcourse you could switch to Republic if you are worried mate ;)

Ah, didn't realise the founding dates were that far apart :D

I've had my heart set on a Powertech bounty hunter for a while now, so I'll stick with it :p

I'll probably end up rolling a Republic class at some point anyway, so will be applying for the Republic guild when I do. A smuggler, perhaps.

My only MMO experience is two months of WoW on a PvE server, which was fairly dull, so it will be good to experience a PvP one :D

I applied for the Empire as a Inquisitor, but the sheer amount of people playing that class is putting me off, even though I want to experience the SI storyline. I wouldn't mind trying the Agent out, but I'm vain and materialistic and I'm really not fond of the Agent armour that I've seen (some massive goggles and a gilet constitutes protection?!) so I might apply to the OCUK Republic guild as a Trooper after all.

Can you do that or would I need to make a different account?

Don't worry about what other people are playing. The Sith and Jedi classes were always going to be the most popular. I mean, it's a Star Wars game. With the amount of options open to the classes, I'd wager no two Inquisitors within the guild will be the same. Some will spec into healing, some into the Assassin tree, some into Sorcerer DPS. There are more Sith warriors anyway :p

Until all the undecideds roll an Inq at release due to Inquisitors being silly overpowered at launch, only for Bioware take off and nerf them from orbit, it's the only way to be sure, in the first big patch ;)

I was kind of hoping fellow OcUK-ers wouldn't subscribe to the 'picking the class with the biggest numbers' mentality, because it's fun-ruining and sad :D

I've applied to both the OcUK Sith and Republic guilds on the main SW:TOR website for guilds, how do i know if its been accepted or rejected?

I think you can only apply to one guild, and as I cant see your application in the Republic guild I guess you have applied to the Sith one. I think if you look at the Sith guild it will tell you if you have been accepted or not.

I doubt you will be rejected but it might take a little while for them to accept you, you could always remove that application and apply to the Republic guild if you want to be instantly accepted ;) (I should really stop constantly trying to recruit people :p)

EDIT: Just seen your edit. You can only apply to one and that was the first one you did which I am guessing was the Sith guild.

I think I'm going to roll a smuggler alongside my bounty hunter, so will be signing up for the Republic guild come game release.

If u want to be a bounty hunter thats empire only ;) not republic

trooper is on the republic side same char different class but same skills apart from rocket jump.

I know. I meant I'd roll a smuggler on the Republic side :p

I'm assuming come game release, you will be able to join a guild with each character you create. Otherwise allowing alts is utterly pointless...

Shame about sever issues today :(

It looks like WoW, does it play like it or does it actually have a more unique feel and actually feels like what Star Wars should?

On a side note:

McDaniel, may i ask your system spec and brand of projector? Also do you use a screen or is that a white painted wall?

Thanks.

It's my mates; took my laptop round there - he got an Epson 3200 I think it was... white wall - however after his loft conversion he will get a purpose built on that retracts I believe!

Very nice projector. I also hate you. I will be rolling Empire :D

What are you thinking of the game so far? Does it live up to expectations? What classes have you played so far, and do they vary enough in terms of gameplay mechanics?

I'm assuming you can't reveal too much because of the NDA?
