Deal 1 - Free Phone. 600mins/500txt Unlimited data £25pm after cashback, £60 quidco, 18months. Total £396

Deal 2 - £150 phone, £30pm, £30 quidco, 400mins 1000 texts 1gb data, 12mnth contract, Total £480

Option one looks good as it comes in under £400 and has unlimited data but im tied in for 18 months. Deal 2 is more expensive although its only 12months and the minutes/texts/data would be enough for me.

What would you do?

Personally i'd buy the SGS2 out-right and then get a GiffGaff SIM card, and purchase the £10 goodybag every month.

Unlimited Texts/Data and 250 free minutes,

But with them if you don't text much get the top contract.

Why not wait for the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Prime/Galaxy Nexus thingy mabob.

Looks better than the SGS2 (from an initial perspective)

Shop around, and use them in store :).

How much is a SGS2 outright?

Edit - sim free £400 plus your £10 each a month. So say you upgrade every 18months. Thats £580 surely its cheaper to go with a contract?

Unfortunately i dont have £400 in cash right now and my current contract is up this month so i cant hand around too much longer.

I would go with deal 1, its a good enough phone to last 18 months, and its the cheaper option. Should still be able to sell it for £100+ in 18 months making it a slightly better deal.

Is T-mobile a decent network for mobile internet? My dad's on Tmobile but he wouldn't have a clue.

Better data allowance?

I always buy mine out-right, no hassle with contracts going through by DD.

Just PAYG SIM and sign up monthly for a goodybag.

Simples *insert obligatory meerkat noise here*

I would without doubt go for deal 1, looking for a similar deal when the nexus arrives

Do you think you will need a new phone in that time? And if you really do you can still sell the sgs and get whatever it is

My htc desire was on almost identical contract 18months ago, it is ending now, just the right amount of time.

Mine is also t mobile, not good around here, until.. Orange and t mobile merged. Now I use orange signal most of the time

His deal gives him unlimited date allowance?

Neither wait a few days, when the Prime is released SGS2 should dip price further.

I thought the prime wouldn't be released until nov/dec time? And according to the HUKD mobile forum the prime wont cause a prise drop on the GSII since it's not a direct replacement.

It would be silly to go with the second deal. The first is cheaper, has a better allowance and no up-front cost. If you want a 12 month contract then just cancel after 12 months. They can't charge you VAT on a service you aren't getting, so it will work out even cheaper still! Selling the GSII should recoup the cancellation costs, leaving you free to take out a new contract.

This is true, it's not a direct competitor in terms of line replacement (networks sold SGS1's right up until the 2 came out as it did so well) and to make matters worse I'm not 100% sure networks will all pick up this handset because of their commitment to inventory for the SGS2. Will it alter the price? Yes if the features are a "good" leap forward, nope if it's comparable.

It should be out late nov at the latest, any earlier and you miss Christmas sales (stuff usually gets out by week 2 November.

Edit: First deal, phone has legs.

Nope not really.

You should get a decent signal in most places with the network share, but t-mobile limit contracts to 3G speeds 0.35mbps  Even if you get that removed, web and walk is limited to 2Mbps

Goose, there is a similar deal to Deal 2 somewhere (mobiles.co.uk), which is the one I got a few months ago, but I paid 100 quid up-front instead of 150. Talkmobile seems alright in terms of coverage. I preferred the 12 month contract, but it's a shame it has gone up by 50 pounds.

Deal 2 is the same as the one on mobiles.co.uk as far as i can tell. Both 12month talk mobile contracts.

What about

£129.99 phone then 24 months of £17 for 500 mins, 5000 txts & 1gb net?

Plus you get £60 cashback? thats what i went for last week :)

Yeah, seems the same deal indeed. Never mind then, just be aware the price of that deal has gone up by 50GBP. Might be worth waiting a month or so, the price can only go down from here.
