Best way to bring money in the country

Does anyone know what is the best untraceable way to bring a large amount of money to the country, as in more then 5000 pounds?

Would it be best to bring it in foreign currency or local and could customs tax that as income?
 
Define a 'large amount of money' because by saying its more than £5k you imply its £6-7k which isn't a large amount of money and nobody is likely to care if you have that much money.

I know someone who brings briefcases of money in from Japan. I assume you could just do it that way?
 
Your allowed to bring in £10k as far as I know, as in you should declare any more than that.
I dont think specifially bringing large amounts of cash in is a big issue per se, its more about why you are doing so. IE expect to be questioned as to what your upto, proof of withdrawing from a foreign bank etc
 
Anything less than 10 000 Euros from within an EU country is fine. With other words, you can bring around £8000 into the UK from another EU country and not raise a red flag.

convert it into bags of cocaine..... carry through customs un-noticed.... then sell the cocaine back for money when you get here.


Other than that - regulus is spot on. If its less than £10K you are fine to fetch it through customs.

If you are asked to open your bags and have £9999 in there you may get a few questions..... but its fine though.

as others have said under 10k euro from within the EU is not an issue, anything over that is also fine as long as its ligit tax paid money you can fill out a form at the airpot.

They have dogs that can smell the money so if you are going to take large amounts declare it or carry CHF :D
