Panorama: Britain's Child Beggars

They sell the big issue at traffic lights here and fully press their face at the window of the car. I always face the other way as if I can't see them, then when they are fully touching the window with their face I turn round quickly, scream and bang the windows with my hand. Scares the **** out of them everytime. :D

Hmm, mist of the traffic light sellers are not big issue, but belfast telegraph. Some of them put out signs last year to amke a statement they were not romanians.
Reason for this, was most of the big issue sellers now are romanians, and get left off to their beggin pitches each morning by minibus, and collected in the evening. They are brough back to those group of three houses that have been merged into one, down off the lisburn road.
The family group responsible for the belfast begging own considerable lands and properties in romania, where they spend their summers, as was traced by the bbc documentary last year.

Dont give to them, dont buy from them, they bring disgust down upon the big issue by their actions.
The chaps selling newspapers at the traffic lights have yet to bother me, and sell rather than beg.

Nothing really to do with Johnny Foreigner living there, just people tend to voice the problem instead of just going but "its our wee country" which makes me cringe.

Not entirely but the add the to problem, they stretch the Police force, all you have to do is look at the most wanted and look at crime rate committed by Johnny Foreigner

Think if you was a criminal and could move from country to country and just commit your deeds and the worst possible outcome is getting sent back home, almost a great lifestyle to life.

So its not just my area, quite sad to see something set up to help British people abused.

To become a vendor, one must be homeless or vulnerably housed or marginalised in some way. The Big Issue recognises, however, that for many people, being housed is only the first stage in getting off the streets; therefore, The Big Issue Foundation exists to support vendors in gaining control of their lives by tackling the various issues which lead to homelessness.

Stay in Romania/foreign country would be a start. :D

There used to be loads of them in Glasgow. Not sure as I havn't been in town at lunchtime in ages. A couple of guys would drive and drop off about 6 woman (no idea if it was more). Then they would regularly check up on them in the streets.

Because it was...

Well the decent came up from the bit round the train tracks at the other side of the Lisburn Road known as "the village" full of some of the angry loyalists that really really are not nice (considered a flat down there for 2nd year, saw the place and ran). Anyway coverage of the incident showed that it was loyalists, the ones that give being politically active a bad name by throwing bombs and trying to take it into their own hands and in this case drive people out of their homes because they were near by :(

I know plenty of people from the village and surprisingly not one of them are 'loyalists' or have a political stance at all. Can't categorise the whole place as loyalist. Also, did the news report literally use the word 'loyalist' or are you just assuming this since they came from that area?

It is definitely Big Issue, I was actually talking about them with a friend today on the bus when we seen them selling the Big Issue just outside forestside where there is around 3 busstops next to each other. He told me that they were banned from selling the Belfast Telegraph but he says a lot of things. :p

Should be and interesting and depressing watch, in my village and local town an old woman, man in his 30s and woman in her 30s all sell the Big Issue, next step up from begging they hang around M&S putting on this poor face and poor grasp of the English language and one was hanging around right near a cash machine in my village.

I saw the young women with two mobile phones on the local bus and was talking the whole bus ride in some foreign language, they looked like Romanians.

Scum, one they are not homeless, I bet they all live in the same house, real homeless people don't have the need for TWO mobile phones and two why are they allowed in this country to sell the big issue.

Quick look on goggle and is not just this area its the whole country, round them up and send the packing.

Anyone else noticed foreign beggars/big issue sellers in your area?

I started a similar thread on this ages ago IIRC. Same thing in my home town.

THIS is PANORAMA.

Personally laugh at beggers... the ones that drink/take drugs anyway. I respect the ones that stay clean!

This is mostly because you get used to seeing them each day. I never give money, may give food, but I'm yet to not finish a meal!

These people are the scum of the earth, we so soft we take them in.

With a bit of luck we might get a referendum, get out of EU so all these people will **** off home.

Just my $0.2c

Had to turn it off, was boiling my blood, scum after scum, cheek to beg then stole a head scarf from a shop, why would anyone be soft enough to give money to them.

These people will never chain, never integrate, strange how they are still doing the same thing and outlived Nazi Germany, ironic.

Reading comprehension fail. Clearly you are attempting to live up to your username.

Haha, I've only just noticed the mentalist nationalist flag sig. Amazing.

So you choose to point on my grammar but nothing to say about the program we're watching?

Why do you bother?

Give it a rest.

It depends on which people you're talking about. Are you cross about economic migrants? Asylum seekers?

And anyway, that doesn't answer the point that getting out of the EU - which you suggested - wouldn't cut down on illegal immigrants, and the legal immigrants which I'm inferring you're cross about are only here because our benefits system is so ludicrously permissive, but that's a problem that applies to lazy arse natives as well.

So what and whom are you actually cross about?

Lol at the end, "Britain's forgotten Children"

Are you sure?

Romania's forgotten child it seems!

There are a couple of homeless people and Big Issue sellers in Cam, but all are English. The Big Issue sellers are pretty good actually, they all have their catchphrases. The best one is the chap outside Sainsbury's whose catchphrase is "anybody for a Big Issue? Somebody? Onebody? Twobody?" etc!

The homeless people are a bit hippy-ish - they play wooden flutes, mumble about the planet and look like they've not washed for a long while. They may just be refusing to conform to the norm and paying the ridiculously high rent in Cambridge like the rest of us :p
