iPhone 4S - the deal you got

I ordered from Three on Friday the day it was released. I went for the 32gb Black model, yet have no e-mail apart from the initial one they send out saying they've got the order.

Anyone know if three have ran out of stock? I'm getting impatient lol.

Imagine how the people feel that pre-ordered on the evening of the 7th and the 8th and still not received their devices lol :p

I walked into the carphone warehouse shop, (2 days ago) and they have plenty of 32GB black/white 4's on any network. (16/64Gb was out of stock)

Just received mine tonight and when I switched it on it it says

"No SIM card Installed"
Insert a valid SIM card with no PIN Lock to activate IPhone.

Does this means that the unit is unlocked?
It came with a 3 sim but I didn't install it yet.

Will the 3 SIM lock the phone if I install it now?

This is usually shown when your device is locked to a carrier IIRC. So in this case, it is locked to 3.

But you could always try a different network to see if it's unlocked

I'm still getting that stupid error on the Three site when I try and confirm. AAARRRRGGGHHHH! I'm so annoyed. Any tips on how to make this damn purchase actually go through?

Use the "Chat" facilities. Confirmation error usually happens when you purchase through Quidco's link.

For myself and someone else the fix was to not enter a mobile number as contact number on step 1 but use a landline number instead. This applies to both phone number fields.

Quidco link has worked for lots of people on here.

Any one know anything about O2's T & Cs? I am on a 2 year contract which ends in April. The contract has unlimited internet (before the shake up). Obviously if I get a new O2 contract I will have to sign the new T & C and so no continued unlimited internet. What happens if I keep going with my current contract? Will they still honour it?

Has anyone tried upgrading through 3 to a 4S? My contract ended last month and i'm thinking of upgrading my 3GS which is slowly becoming a bit slow and a pain to use. Was wondering if i'd be able to get them to know around £100 off the phone cost to save me the hassle of getting a new contract using quidco

I've put together this little summary that i worked out of costs i'd have to pay

Looks like buying it outright and using a sim only works out around £20 a month cheaper than getting it on contract with 3 over 24 months. I've had my 3GS for about 2 years so the contract life doesnt bother me too much.

The total figures for the 02 12 and 18 months contracts need to be upped as they were initially worked out with a £10 monthly sim but looking at my usage i'd need to be spending £15 i think so add roughly £60 onto the 12 month ones and £30 onto the 18 month ones.

Looks like i might just go with 3. Although the hassle of having to port my 3 number over to a PAYG and then back again onto the new contract seems a bit hassly.

Anything i seem to be missing?

o2 are refusing to budge on the 4s, best offer below

16gb Hanset, free with 900min/unlimited txt/500mb data/insurance for £52 a month.... (18months)

How does that compare to what others have heard? Retentions werent interested either...

I just had a very weird conversion with O2 retentions.

I went in to an O2 store on Saturday to see about a 2 month early upgrade but they wouldn't let me buy out the remainder of my contract and then upgrade.
I went next door and bought a new contract on Three. I figured I'd port my number once my contract with O2 ran out.

I called O2 CS yesterday to see about porting etc and they said I could just buy out my contract and port now.

So, if you are an existing O2 customer who wishes to upgrade and stay with O2 you can't buy out your contract but if you wish to leave O2 and go to a different carrier you CAN buy out your contract.
This was confirmed by the retentions dude I spoke to.

I guess O2 aren't interested in retaining customers.

So I rang three and spoke to the guy asking about my order, he said it had been cancelled, I asked why, he couldn't tell me exactly why but did give me a list of possible reason on why it may have been cancelled. Needless to say I've gone and ordered through CPW now and made sure everything I've input is correct, and they also seem to have stock.

Been on the phone to Orange over the week. One person said Apple stores don't do Orange Upgrades and another said that Apple must have not sent the upgrade order over to them. So currently I've paid £30 and I just changed my plan to have the iPhone data bundle on it.

Going to the Apple store on saturday. Still not sure if I should tell them or not.

I'm on a rolling 30day one (Simplicity) and still a few years later have unlimited data. However I don't get any tethering :(. Changing to a 1GB allowance would get me tethering...

Simplicity here with unlimited aswell. It will keep going until they decide not to offer it anymore.

I have rang O2 to ask for a micro sim and they are trying to get me to sign up for a new IPhone simplicity tariff and pay an extra £10 a month for 1gb data. They are saying I will not be able to get on the apps store unless I upgrade..

NO THANKS..

Three sim only looks good.

2000 mins, 5000 texts and all you can eat data. 1 month rolling contract for £25..

Yes mine was a simplicity contract which was upgraded to 2 years when I got my X10 last year. I didn't know they stopped tethering though. I used it all the time until I lost my X10 a few months ago.
