Well, I know guitars, or good guitars should be solid, no laminate but looking at Taylor Guitars, even the £800 ones are laminate side and back....all solid ones start at £1300+ !!!

After finding out how a Taylor is made i really want one (not playing my Piano much even though i am still getting lessons), might give the Guitar a go and it is something i can self taught as oppose to piano playing.

So, if I were to go away from Taylor, what guitar (acoustic) should I be looking at?

Looking at the 314ce....£1,350!

If the taxman don't rape me this year I might treat myself at Christmas.

Though I quite like a blue one lol.

That's a great budget to work with, if I were you, I would go to a few guitar shops and try everything you like the look of/is recommended, regardless of the price up to £1k.

Well I was going to go on holiday but that got scrapped so this is basically the holiday money. I doubt a good guitar will lose much value, especially a decent make.

Seagull
Breedlove
Taylor
Yamaha

Anything really, my second acoustic was actually a Crafter £200 electro acoustic (had several hundred quid ready to spend) and for the money it played great and sounded really good for what I wanted at the time. If it sounds good and plays well it doesn't matter what it is IMO.

I'm a big Yamaha fan as again they are easy to play, good build quality and sound great for the money. I have the LA-8.

I would only trade it in for a Taylor 214 or a Seagull.

I would spend considerably less to begin with to see if you actually enjoy playing it.

I suppose buying a £200 Yamaha is the sensible thing but I really want a Taylor fall limited with Indian rosewood....£1,749!!!!

That will never happen, I am not that extravagant or silly.

Get yourself a Fender Squire or an Epiphone , and a decent amp, if this is your first guitar I wouldn't go spending that much on one.

If you want a brighter, aggressive but full sound - Taylor.

If your looking for a dark, clear, full sound - Martin.

If your wanted a woodier, rounder folky bluesy sound - Gibson J45 Style.

Well, considering the music I listen to:

Michelle branch
Taylor swift
Kate Voegele

I say Taylor would be the one to go for.
