Its really sad reading any thread on android and iOS on this place. Please try and look at things from a neutral point of view rather than your own little ivory tower where you look down on the other camp and dismiss any argument they may have.
Steve Jobs might not have been massively happy about one of his board members that worked for google disappearing off after google had just built android. Only 10 months after iOS debuted, android was on the market.
You can't sue someone unless you patent an idea. If the google notifications bar is copied by apple and google haven't patented it then its fair game.
All these companies are not dastardly organisations that are trying to kill each other, they all want to make money from what they have created. If someone can copy something you have done, you either haven't patented it properly or you missed something (or you sue them!).
I would wager that apple, google, samsung etc are all a little more clued up on this that anyone on this forum but I am sure that you are all very knowledgable and should really go and explain to the companies why they are having such issues.
Jobs said that copying and stealing is part of the industry. He didn't say that he didn't do it and he didn't say that he wouldn't do it. To me, he treated it all as a kind of game. If you can steal someones idea or copy it then go for it. You had better have done it well though otherwise the guy you copied will have your balls.
The stat that android has way more of the market share is completely irrelevant to the discussion as well. If I want a sub £400 phone I will have to get a second hand iphone or an android handset. Its like claiming a 10 year old fiesta is as good as a ferrari. Just because it has a larger potential market (massively, massively larger) doesn't mean that its the better product. In fact, what is amazing is that apple have 3 phones out covering the last 2 odd years and they are still anywhere near android.
