I thought I'd make this tread to let people know they can pick up this great little blaster for under a tenner :D

I really enjoyed hard reset... it took a couple of levels for me to get into it, but once it gets going it's a really great old-school blaster. Graphics are absolutely top-notch, the weapons are great fun, and the boss fights are pretty epic. I've played it through a few times now - it''s really addictive!

Anyway, here is a video to give you an idea of the gameplay:



There's a demo available, but the demo is just the first level, and really doesn't showcase the best of the game. The game really gets going when you have a nice loadout of weapons, but unfortunately you don't get that in the first level. Creative crowd-control is the key to this game, and for that you'll need toys like grav grenades, stasis fields and electrical mortars :D

The game has improved since release with patch 1.01 (which added faster weapon-mode switching and a better sprint system among other things), and the developers have announced that a new gameplay mode ('survival mode') is coming with the next update.

Anyway this game is PC only, and has graphics and gameplay to match. So, if you're looking for some grade-A shooter fun after Rage, then consider supporting a small PC-only developer by grabbing hard reset :)

Gee, thanks for the heads up there - didn't quite know how things work around here yet :p

In the 7+ years I've been posting here I doubt I've made more than 10 or 15 threads so I'm hardly a spammer. This is a good deal on a great game, and after all the "rage" against console ports recently I thought people might like a heads up about a cheap PC-only shooter. This thread is as much about creating awareness for this under-appreciated game as it is highlighting a good deal :)

After buying they issue a key instantly and then you activate on Steam in the usual way.

Click on Games at the top of the Steam window, then click activate product on Steam, enter the key when promted and Robert's your father brother.

Downloading now, thanks to the OP for this.

I felt at £23 is was a bit over priced, even though I really enjoyed the demo. But at half price I'm in.
 
ive never used GMG before how does it work?.. do you buy the game and they email you a code to activate on steam? or is it a disc they send out or something.. been wanting this for a while!

I am also thinking about Dead Island, but 37 euros is so much...dammit.
How much does DI cost for you UK guys on GMG?
 
Put it on hardest setting that it will let you from the start and the game is solid.
Havent finished it on hard yet but there are some tricky parts indeed.
Harder difficulty setting does mean that you do have use a little bit of strategy to survive. Lost count the number of times i have been strafing, trying to survive only to drift near an explosive object and then its back to the last checkpoint.
Time to get back to it and see what the unlockable difficulty setting is like.
Still got a few secrets left to find on some levels too.
Game is well worth it at just under £12, if you like your FPS old skool
 
I've been looking for a good game in the same vein of Painkiller that's not Serious Sam for ages. I'll be able to max it out on my new PC when it arrives on Monday too. I remember seeing the orginial thread here before release but totally forgot about it until now. Will be a purchase for me. Thanks for the heads up Duff-Man. :)
 
Well I just bit the bullet and bought both Hard Reset and Dead Island. HR works and I am downloading it already.

Dead Island? I had to write this support ticket to GMG:

I bought Dead Island along with Hard Reset on GMG few minutes ago. I live in Czech Republic. The purchase worked without problem. Activation of Hard Reset too.However when I try to activate Dead Island in Steam on my account (on which I have over 120 games), I receive lovely message:

"Not Available
Sorry, but the following items are not available for purchase in this country. Your purchase has been cancelled."

Isn't that lovely? Why are publishers insisting on doing this? And why are you guys selling game in territories where it cannot be activated?

I am obviously pretty angry, since I was lookding forward to playing, and now I have to spend my time dealing with this idiotic BS.
