Just recieved a 2nd graphics card to put into crossfire, however neither my old, or my new graphics card came with a crossfire bridge, and neither did my motherboard.

I've bought one from a popular auction site however i have the card ready to install tonight, is crossfire still dependant on the bridge, or is it actually just software enabled now?

You will need the bridge, All the ATI cards Ive owned over the past few years have come with the bridge in the box.

You need a bridge for crossfire to work right. The reason some suppliers don't supply them is because to make the package cheaper and now a lot of motherboards come with SLI or crossfire bridges with them.

Motherboards which support SLI come with SLI bridges as they're not suppllied with graphics cards.

Traditionally CrossFire bridges have been supplied with graphics cards and not motherboards. Perhaps that's changing?

Do you have a list of "a lot of motherboards" which are supplied with CrossFire bridges?

i kindly asked OcUK if they could include one in my package as i knew there wouldnt be one in with the card (bought the same card previously a month ago), to which they turn around and said they come with the motherboard...really helpful

You're correct that the response wasn't very helpful.

As far as I'm aware the majority of CrossFire compatible motherboards don't come supplied with CrossFire bridges.
