Woo, I got a pay rise this year!

£73 a year.

Yes, per year.

Has anyone had a smaller non-zero pay rise?

So are people generally getting small rises or a freeze? We have just been going through pay negotiations at work and they have come back with roughly £200 a month before tax. 6%.

Most of the guys in work are not happy with this. I think they expect too much personally.

So they're on ~£3300 a month and getting a 6% rise and they're not happy?

Tell them to shut up and get a grip on reality. Pay freezes are normal now. Pay rises of 6% aren't (except for those at the top of the pyramid, obviously).

I've moved jobs every couple of years to get a decent payrise. But 6% in situ is very good and they should STFU to be honest.

Hah. Glad it isn't just me thinking that then. I think they are really annoyed about the pension indexing being changed in line with government. So I don't suppose they would be content unless it reverted back to RPI and the 6% thanks very much.

They are talking about walking out the door over it.

Is it a part time job or some sort of public sector employer where you get paid according to whatever generic class/pay band they slot your job into rather than based on individual performance/perceived value you add?

I mean a random rise like that is perhaps explainable if its simply a case that your public sector pay grade is worth x amount next year which is an increase of £73... but if its actually a case of you going into a meeting with your boss and being told your individual raise for next year is £73 then, wow, your boss not only doesn't like you but really wants to rub your face in it...

Let them walk out the door. In the current climate there are at least 10 people equally qualified in any role to step into it.
