What, and find more crap being spouted from people like yourself?

Its an official term in Saudi Arabia, and an official police unit:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutaween

The word mutaween (Arabic: المطوعين‎ muṭawiʿin; variant English spellings: mutawwain, muttawa, mutawallees, mutawa’ah, mutawi’, mutawwa') most literally means "volunteers" in the Arabic language,[1] and is commonly used as a casual term for the government-authorized or government-recognized religious police (or clerical police) of Saudi Arabia.

The Mutaween in Saudi Arabia are tasked with enforcing Sharia as defined by the government, specifically by the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (CPVPV). The Mutaween of the CPVPV consists of "more than 3,500 officers in addition to thousands of volunteers...often accompanied by a police escort." They have the power to arrest unrelated males and females caught socializing, anyone engaged in homosexual behavior or prostitution; to enforce Islamic dress-codes, and store closures during the prayer time. They enforce Muslim dietary laws, prohibit the consumption or sale of alcoholic beverages and pork, and seize banned consumer products and media regarded as anti-Islamic (such as CDs/DVDs of various Western musical groups, television shows and film which has insults on the Islamic law or Islam itself). Additionally, they actively prevent the practice or proselytizing of other religions within Saudi Arabia, where they are banned.[3][4]

If the Mutaween caught you drinking water during the fasting months, you would be arrested. They wouldnt even ask, nor care if you were sick, or pregnant (then again, pregnant Women wouldnt ever be allowed outdoors in Saudi Arabia anyway).

Don't visit the place then? You aren't being forced to live there?

And what about all the people that do live there? You dont care at all about them?

I didn't know Muslims and Gypsies had something in common

Often marrying cousins? ;)

Can we just agree that the world is messed up - wish Ed Mubarak good luck on whatever he's doing and close this thread before somebody launches a nuke?

Yes, can a mod close this thread please, it has descended into something that disgusts me, some of you should be ashamed!

Well I don't know any who did that personally, but have contact with both gypos and muslims who have married their cousins and indeed have some f'ed up genetic results, blood disorders in the Pakistan origin family and bad genetic retardation (developmental issues) in the gypos.

Indeed and it was only going to go one way when Bhavv decided to sprout up from his little ignorant hole that he lives in.

Too many muslim families in Bradford forcefully take their daughters under the age of 16 to be forced into marriage in Pakistan. Some of them are caught and stopped before it happens, but lots of them arent.

Spawn should be aware of this, I remember he said that one of his cousins was dragged off for the same thing, but he managed to stop it.

Wasn't there something in the news recently about making arranged/forced marriages illegal in the UK?

On a side note, why the hell would you want to marry someone under the age of 21 anyway? they got no experience at anything

Thats why they take their daughters to Pakistan to have it done there.

Forced marriages are already illegal in Britain and have been for a long time.

Happy Eid Mubarak.

I'm glad Ishmael wasn't murdered in the end, it must have been quite a stressful day for him. I bet the lamb was delicious and they had loads left over for sandwiches during the week.

Well, to be fair that is a cultural practice rather than a religious one. As for fasting, if your life or the lives of others are at risk then it is permitted to break the fast, so yes a Muslim can drink water in the desert if they need to.

The adherent must be physically and mentally fit, it doesn't include children (defined by the legal age or adolescence whichever is greater), it must not interfere with an individuals needs regarding their health and they must be within the region of their domicile, so if a Muslim is on a journey of more than 50 miles then they can break fast as required.

Pregnant women, children, the sick, the elderly, breast feeding women, and women during their cycle are all excempt.

So in short the Fasting during Ramadan is only obligatory for a Muslim, who is fit, healthy, old enough and not at risk of ill health either physically or mentally from fasting during the times between Sunup and Sundown.

Given he's not posted since page 2 does anyone else get the feeling Billythekid has been successful in epically trolling the thread turning it from something pleseant into yet another religious flame fest. /sigh

Bit of a classic light blue touch paper and retire to a safe distance... :/

In theory yes. Under Sharia law, no. And neither can Non muslims in such countries where drinking water in public is an offense during the fast.
