I couldn't find anything via the search function and no lively topics seem to be around so here it is, the official thread for Halo: Combat Evolved.

Ten years ago “Halo: Combat Evolved” launched around the world and defined both the shooter genre and a generation of gamers. Microsoft Studios and 343 Industries are celebrating this epic milestone with the launch of “Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary” for Xbox 360 on 15th November and inviting fans to join the landmark celebration with a set of special pre-order bonuses.

Master Chief Avatar Armour – Heroes never die, and to honour the 10th Anniversary of John 117, you will finally be able to transform your Xbox LIVE Avatar into the iconic hero by outfitting it with Master Chief’s signature MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armour.

“Grunt Funeral” Skull – An exclusive, game-modifying skull that changes the rules of the game for an explosively humorous experience, “Grunt Funeral” sends “Halo’s” most lowly and lovable enemy out in a blaze of glory. And plasma. And then more glory. Once the skull has been activated, every grunt’s methane tank will explode like a plasma grenade when killed. Watch out for the grunt chain reaction!

"Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" is a spectacularly remastered version of the original "Halo" campaign, created in celebration of the 10th anniversary of one of the most beloved franchises in gaming history. With a bounty of new features including cooperative play over Xbox LIVE, a bundle of some of the most beloved multiplayer maps in "Halo" history reimagined for Xbox LIVE, new challenges and a new story to uncover, "Halo: Anniversary" is a must-have experience.

Developed by 343 Industries in collaboration with Saber Interactive and Certain Affinity, "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" immerses you in the landmark campaign and genre-defining multiplayer game that helped revolutionize the first-person shooter genre and sparked one of the most iconic science-fiction universes of all time.

Stunningly remastered campaign. Relive the award-winning adventure that defined "Halo: Combat Evolved" as one of the best games of the decade with breathtaking next-gen graphics and audio remastered for the Xbox 360. Engage in epic-scale battles against the backdrop of the eponymous "Halo" ringworld, and relive nostalgic memories with the ability to toggle Classic mode to play the original version.

Online campaign co-op. For the first time, experience the story that started it all with a friend on Xbox LIVE and launch a cooperative assault against the Covenant, whether you live across the street or halfway around the world. [*Xbox LIVE Gold membership required for online multiplayer.]

Classic "Halo" multiplayer maps reimagined. Wage battle on six detailed remakes of some of the most beloved "Halo" multiplayer maps of all time, and bring the fight to the Covenant on a stunning and resonant new Firefight map.1 Remastered in the "Halo: Reach" engine and inspired by maps from "Halo: Combat Evolved" and "Halo 2," these iconic battlefields reignite the heart-pounding multiplayer action of the original favorites and let you relive epic confrontations like you've never experienced them.

I want it, but I'm not paying launch price, there's too many other games releasing atm that I'd rather have.

I'll wait for it to drop to £15 or so and then pick it up.

Same, I'll probably pick it up in the new year

Surprised Microsoft didn't hold off the release until next year tbh, they must surely know it wont be able to compete with BF3 and MW3 this side of Christmas

I started playing the original 18 months or so ago and loved it, right up until the flood level. The level where you backtrack on yourself. I gave up and lost the will to carry on a game that otherwise even years late was thoroughly and surprisingly enjoyable.

I will definately rent this, I'd try the MP but I'm far too late to the party to feel I can compete. Co-op campaign, in what was a single player game? Looks very good :)

It's an Anniversary release, Halo came out ten years to do the day of it. That's the whole point of it. We both know it won't be able to compete, it's really just one for the hardcore fans.

They release Halo at the same time every year, Halo Reach and ODST in the past 2 years, and they have sold well.

Jcb33.

Both were released in September though and were 'new' and anticipated games.

This game is just a remake, I'm a Halo fan but even I am not that bothered about it. They are releasing at a time when I'd argue there are more AAA games released than I can ever remember.

I don't see this selling like a Halo game would normally do. I certainly won't until the price drops, or may just rent.

day one for me as well.... but will get it on teh cheap if i can ... i did try original on 360, but its painfully slow... i'm assuming this version runs faster ?

The multiplayer will be absolutely fantastic, definitely a day one purchase for me.

If you're a fan of Halo, this has to be purchased!

Ive been a fan since the first halo, had it on the xbox. Always pre-ordered and looked forward to the new halo. Never really been a fan of the single-player..

For the first time they have used the exact same engine as a predecessor :( They have used the same halo reach engine, essentially they want to charge full price for 6 new maps of halo "anniversary"..

Will be waiting til the price drops/ can get hold of it on the cheap.

It is only £28, not exactly full price. And Reach looked fantastic, and so does the Single player, so not a problem for me.

I always end up putting the original on, it is my favorite of the series, so to be able to play it in HD makes me a very happpy bunny.

I do really want it, but over the past month or so I've bought:

GoW3 - £40
Forza 4 - £31
Speed Wheel - £31
Battlefield 3 - £40
MW3 - £25
2 x 2100 points - £25
------------------------
£192
------------------------

:o

It's going to have to wait, along with Batman AC, Rage, Sonic Generations, Zelda Skyward Sword and all the others I really want to play :(
