*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Haven't played much, feels identical to WoW (not really that bad i guess) but thought if it did it would be stale quick, but the voice cut scenes and the general music and setting of the game is getting me pretty damn excited.

SWTOR website is an utter joke, after not being able to login and then the password reset process not even working all day yesterday, today it doesn't send you anything after requesting a password reset link. Now I've got a password reset link I go through the process then it says it can't find my account! Given up!

I just got an invite and have NO IDEA how to get into the beta. Someone point me in the right direction?

you will get another email with a number of links saying accept or decline test, click accept and once you do this, it will then take you another page to start downloading the client.

just keep an eye out for the next email, its very straight forward.

Yeah got a beta invite the other day as well, but I'm not going to give it a go. I'm just going to pitch up when it goes live and learn about it as I go along rather than spoil things.

that's a good idea, didn't think about it that way, I've got BF3 and Zelda next week to keep me occupied. Is it true the release date for Star Wars has been brought forward in line with the US (18/12 I think?)

[edit] brought forward from 22nd to 20th :)

Yes it has been brought forward to match the US release so both EU and NA are now the 20th of December.

I will only be using the weekend beta to test what class I will release. I have heard classes are almost mirrors of each other so I will most likely test out some of the republic classes and go with the Sith Empire opposite of which one I like the most. Thereby I will not spoil it for myself.

Considering the xmas post, I think it's a wise decision to bring it foward. I play LOTRO with my dad (we're both mature gamers ;) ), it's a nice thing to do together here and there, hopefuly though Star Wars is going to replace it as we've become a bit jaded with LOTRO.

Could anyone clarify how the headstart thing is going to work? What would be the best thing to do in order to get the earliest possible access? :)

LoTRo was one of those game that brought families playing together, was one of the most mature players bases I have ever seen in a MMO.

We were on SnowBourne Rohan Riders Kinship.

Think you way way way .. and I mean way to late to ever hope to get in till the last of the early starters ...if you even get in at all.

Interested in joining a PvP UK/EU Guild The Immortals looking for mature players

1) We a mains first guild
2) No under 18, sorry, but tough!
3) We never accept Blank applications, we don't Ninja invite, please don't Ninja apply.
4) Usage Of vent/Mumble(having a vote on that right now) is a requirement, not all the time but for all guild planned events, all you need to do is hear us, a Mic is not a requirement, but sure as hell will add fun to your game.
5) All new members start at the same rank do not ask to be promoted, all things come to those who wait.
6) Being with me in a guild, a sense of humor and the patience of mother Mary is a definite requirement :D
6) Don't ever team up with Bobricka in our guild, as she will certainly get you lost, killed and broke, not necessary in that order, don't say you were not warned :p

I don't understand what you mean by this. Are you saying it's too late too pre order for the early game access bonus? I can still see shops selling the pre order with the early access and bonus items.

Edit: Just noticed the announcement on the SW:TOR forums about the staggered access but I can't see anything saying early pre orders will be the first to get in?

From the official SWTOR site:
“…we are now happy to announce that depending on when you redeem your Pre-Order Code, you will gain Early Game Access up to five days before the official game launch date.

Early Game Access is staggered over five days to ensure a quality experience for players at launch. Staggering access aids server stability and a gradual increase in player population through the game. Early Game Access will be granted according to when your Pre-Order Code is redeemed at the Code Redemption Center…”

Ah ok. Seems a bit strange they decide to reward loyalty now after how they handled beta invites :p

Might still be worth pre ordering for the early access to the client download. Wouldn't like to sit downloading 30GB on the 20th December knowing I could already be playing :D

Yes it is worth pre-ordering even if just to get in the early download, but you would still get in I guess 2/3 days early .. worth 15 levels :)
