That's an iPhone 3G snap-in so that's why your 4 won't fit in properly.

Edit: see my post below

Hang on, that button at the front might now be your pairing button. This is what I think the previous owner has done:

If you want the right cradle for your 4, you need this

Hi Ollie

Cheers for your help, i know its a 3G cradle :)

Do you think it’s actually worth me putting a 4 cradle in, surly the only functionality that will give is phone charging ?.

I’ll try that other button and report back

Sam

It also connects the phone to the car's roof aerial which does improve the signal a bit - I can make calls from our underground car park with the phone in the cradle but can't if I take it out.

Hi Mate

All connected up fine, my mate did say he thought that button could be it but as it also ejects the cradle i just thought it wouldn’t.

Think ill give the cradle a miss as it seems a waste of £70 and i have to plug the phone into the glove box connection to play music.

Cheers

Problem solved then :D

If you're not going to use it then it might be worth putting the 3GS snap-in on eBay, they're worth £30 or so.

But what do I put in its place :p Is there some kind of blanking plate?.

On another note I’m new to this Diesel malarkey, do people just throw the cheap stuff in or go for the premium :)

as I said early on the button will be there but dangling under the 3g cradle, I'll put money on it :)

plus you can shave the sides of the 3g kit to make the 4(s) fit

if the pairing button really isn't there I can setup the pairing via navcoder :)

Found the button mate, it was the one below the hazards, it acts as the eject for the cradle and the bluetooth. Ill look into that idea of shaving it down somehow as i can squeeze my 4 into it if needed just a shame it does not work with the stereo as most of the time its in the glove box.

all paired and working a dream, i have noticed something funky mind you. When you open the door the window moves down slightly, sometimes it go's all the way down and then when you close the door back up again :D

If you double press the unlock button it will roll the window down when you open the door. If you don;t, it moves it down slightly.

Needs coding to do it :(

How are you finding the drive?

Sam

I can easily code that for you :)

I thought the keys had to be coded for drive-away locking to work? I tried to code it on my E39 and if you do it via Carsoft it'll only work if you unlock the car with the key in the door!

If you have an Intravee it can do drive-away locking (and unlock when you take the key out of the ignition).

yep you code each key, it's very simple when you know how

imo carsoft is rubbish compared to ncs_expert

Guys

Some help required if you please ...

It’s going to need some new rear tyres soon, what do people recommend ?. I was thinking of going with Michelin pilot sports but as they seem to be around £205 fitted im thinking thats a rather expensive option. What do people think of vredestein ultrac sessantas. These seem to be far cheaper and I’ve always heard good things about them.

Also I can’t wind my mirrors in, they look like they will swivel up however I’m led to believe this was an option when new and unless there some mega secret button then i cannot find it. Can a keen BMW enthusiast clarify please

Thanks for the continued help :p

P.S - Am i right in thinking Front - 225/35/18 Rear - 255/40/18

No, it's 255/35/18 rear and 225/40/18 front.

I'd go for some Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 or some Continental SportContact 5. The Vred was a decent tyre... 5 years ago. The game has moved on, why compromise?

Where do you guys normally buy your tyres from ?. I’m thinking Camskill but obviously i will have to take to a garage for fitting.

Fox

Both of the tyres you have suggested are around the same price, which gets the best feedback ?
