Hello everybody here, i was surfing this forum for a couple of months and finally decided to register.

I'm building new PC atm and here are items that i bought already:
Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD53 (B3)
CPU: i5-2500K
RAM: Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) 1333Mhz
PSU: iCute 500W Modular

I still need a GPU which i think will be GTX 480 and if i will get GTX 480 then i need a new PSU.

You will ask why i'm writing here?
Simple :) I want to hear some opinion from people who understand a lot of hardware about items that i bought already, which PSU would be most optimal solution for I5-2500K + GTX480 ( price and quality ) and about the system like that overall.

Thank you.

You getting a cheap 480 second hand or something? If not I'd get a current generation card like:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-247-AS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341

or: (and sell the games)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-267-AS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341

I think nearly everyone would recommend getting rid of that PSU too, maybe something like:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-118-AN&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1088

I'd ditch the PSU straight away. The PSU linked above is a good choice, along with the GTX560 TI. Very good value for money, unless you have/can get a GTX480 for less than £100 :)

Well, about the video card...i don't want to buy current generation and then upgrade again in a year. I found a deal of 480 for 190 quid and thinking of buying it.

What res are you playing at? I'm fairly sure a 480 will be hotter, louder and use more power. While the GTX560Ti us current gen, more efficient and still very good.

Why then buy previous gen at the same price only to upgrade?

I'm playing at 1280x1024 and trying to turn all other setting to maximum.
Would like to have something around 50+ FPS on most of the games. Well, maximum graphic isn't always most important thing for me as soon as scenario is alright...only thing that i wouldn't want to do is to upgrade to another video card just because 560Ti is to weak for games after a year. Where 480 i think gonna last for like 2 years or so...

Questions:
1. What do you think about MSI Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr OC? Is it worth 169 quid?
2. Can i overlock 560Ti?
3. Will my current PSU handle 560Ti if it's in normal state/overlocked?
4. Will my current PSU handle 560Ti if CPU will be in normal state/overlocked?
5. What do you think about the motherboard? is it good?

you HAVE to change the psu unless going for something like a gt430

the 560ti can be oced futher(already comes with oc applied, the 1 with the game more so than the one without games)

no idea on the board will check if it can do sli, if the 560ti is strugling add a 2nd for cheap.

Yeah, easy enough to add another especially if you went for a PSU now that could run them. Also at that res I seriously doubt a GTX560Ti will be struggling.

Why on nvidia website 560Ti say that "Minimum Recommended System Power (W)" is 500W? Let's say that i will not load it to maximum and play at 1024x768 for first month and then upgrade to a new PSU. Will that work or actual VGA card will not even boot up?

Would agree with those above that say it's worth ditching PSU, just put it down to a learning experience. Yoiu may get a few quid for it on ebay. Although 500W is fine for a GTX560Ti, cheap PSUs won't be able to provide the stable power anywhere near that. I'd be surprised if it would deliver above 400W. The rest of the system looks good and I wouldn't put a cheap PSU anywhere near it. The GTX560Ti is slow than the GTX480 but in all honesty as your resolution the GTX560Ti will be the better choice. As somebody mentioned the 560s overclock like beasts so they'll won't be too far behind whilst being cooler, quieter and more power efficient. If you ever want to go SLI then get at least a decent quality 750W PSU for dual 560's.

Edit.

If your intested in SLI then I'd go for the following:
Asus GeForce GTX 560Ti DirectCU II TOP 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **Supplied with BattleField 3 & Batman: Arkham City PC game**
OCZ ZS Series 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

If you don't want the games then you could easily sell them and get back £30-35.

did someone fail to read all the replies? all(both) your 'suggestions' have already been suggested.

WinDrop wattage isn't everything, a chepo 1kw is nowhere as good as a good quality 500w for example.

Sorry, i didn't understood it completely, i'm in England for just 3 years and still learning it.
As far as i understood 500W will be good for 560TI if i will not load to 100%, right? Besides this iCute wasn't so cheap PSU and i think that it should run 560Ti for a while, well, at least for a month.
And which PSU you would suggest for 560Ti if i will not run SLI? I don't know am i right but i just don't like to run SLI. Please correct me if i'm wrong. And why SLI is better?

WATTAGE ISN'T EVERYTHING', there are other factors as well(will leave it to an expert to explain), if you recently bought the psu from the mlins(not allowed to mention compatitor names then return it for refund.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/280434-10-icute-500w

3.3V = 28A
+5V =28A
+12V1 = 20A
+12V2 = 20A
-12V = 0.8A
+5Vsb = 2.0A

according to that thread on tomshardware, any expert comment it being able to power the 560ti?

Right, thank you, i didn't seen your post before i started to write mine.
I bought it a while ago and used a couple of months with my old system and 9800GTX+ VGA card. So it seems i will have to upgrade PSU anyway.

Btw, so is it better to buy second 560Ti after year or 1 1/2 or upgrade to more powerful card?

Difficult to say, not knowing what will be out in a years time. All you can do is get what you afford now and make that decision later :)

Right, well, but for now, i will have to upgrade my PSU anyway, and i just searched different websites and it seems that it's like 70+ just for a PSU :(:(:( can't afford it atm..170 for VGA + 70 for PSU...much more then i expected...will have to wait a month or two and save a bit more money.
