Ford Ka 1.3 1299cc 2005 Worth £1300 ?

Tell me what exactly is right about an old Ka then?

It's a cheap and cheerful basic car, and they handle quite nicely. Nothing about them costs big money to fix.

Would you pay best part of a grand and a half for one?
:)

I wouldn't pay £1 for one but as I'm not interested in buying one what I'd personally pay is irrelevent - whats relevent is its true value. Which is far more than £300.

Don't get me wrong, I hate them and I'd probably rather get the bus but I'm not going to let my personal prejudice cloud giving the guy the answer he asked for.

I'm with you, as with most Fords mechanical parts are pence, but i'd rather drive a Fiesta of the same age, the Ka is not really a nice place to be...

I'm sure the OP would as well.

But as the cheapest sub 60k 05 plate Fiesta on Autotrader is £1100 more than he reckons he can get this Ka from, thats a bit irrelevent.

But comparing a Ka to that model of Fiesta is a bit like comparing the original Fiesta to that Fiesta isn't it...

Make your mind up then, as you said you'd rather a same age Fiesta!

Technical slip up on my behalf there i admit, but tell me...what year Fiesta is the Ka built around? Give me a Mk4 Fiesta with a recent engine design any day over a Ka...

What hole is this you speak of?

Anything that doesn't have Ka on the bootlid to be perfectly honest...

So you think it's well below book price, ok.

Then you can't come up with any real reasons what's wrong with it.

Then you would rather have a same aged Fiesta for the same price, erm ok.

The facts are the KA isn't the best place to be but it was designed to be functional and simple not full of toys or leather, It's actually a really fun car to drive, yes the engine is pants but they are solid, yes they like to rust like many cheap Ford cars of this age but keep and eye on it, it's a £1,300 car for gods sake, it's perfect for running round town in.

I would rather have the fiesta but it would cost much more for a fiesta of the same age.

The engine isn't that bad in the post 2002 ones anyway is it? Certainly better than the horrible Endura-E in the early ones.

If its not rotten as a pear, can't see why an 05 plate with 25k on is not worth £1300!

I had a late MK1 Ka as a courtesy car a little while back. Whilst it was pretty much terrible at everything about being a car, it was actually great fun to blast it about the twisties even if dog slow (it was a 1.3 too).

Ka platform is the Fiesta 4 which came out in about 1995 I think? That was available with the same ancient Endura-E along with the 1.25 and 1.4 Zetecs.

Puma based on the same platform too.

On a side note, is it possible to easily replace the engines on here - for example rip out the 1950's kent engine and pop in a 1.4/1.6 zetec from a fiesta of the same era? Or would that be a nightmare of a job?

I can think of other older cars I would rather have for £1500, the Ka isnt a good car IMO not through my experiance anyway I only know of two people with Ka's but out of those two both had suspension issues and I dont think I've ever seen a 6 year old car with so much rust as did my ex's at 6 years old
