**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

Couple of slight annoyances so far.

Firstly, Zune (on the PC, Windows 7 x64, latest version of Zune) is telling me that it has connection problems:

Which means that I'm unable to developer unlock my phone (legitimately), I've tried all the recommended fixes on both Microsoft's site and from various blogs, to no avail, although I'm sure that it's not my installation of Zune as I'm not getting similar problems with my HD7, it's connecting to Zune without the error message.

Secondly, the phone itself appears to have intermittent "problems", ranging from random slowdowns (making the phone almost completely unresponsive), to not turning on. I was trying one of the proposed fixes for my Zune problem, part of which involved turning the phone off, then back on. Off was fine, on however took almost an hour before the phone finally decided that the "on" button could actually be used to turn "on" the phone.

That's a faulty device surely? Get it changed.

I'd have thought so, but currently I'm unable to replicate the issue (power one), the intermittent slowdowns are something which may or may not occur should I take it in to the store.

Slight chance you may be having overheating issues paradigm, when it wouldn't turn on for an hour was it plugged in?

Are you using the developer version of Zune?

I used to have this issue when running tests on one. What fixed it for me was removal of the 'Nokia Connectivity' drivers under device manager. You should have a driver for the phone itself and then one that says 'Windows Phone USB'. Uninstall the Nokia one.

If either of these are missing then it is not installed correctly on the machine.

Hope that helps.

Where did you get it from? Most phone retailers give you 28 days where if you do get a fault, they will exchange it instore for you, providing they have stock of course. Only problem is trying to replicate the problem to them!

Exactly, I've got no problems taking it back, and I know they have stock (Three Store, Macclesfield), but I can't get it to replicate the problem on command, so I'm stuck waiting to see if it happens again.

bought one for my GF ;)
she loves it
but..
.had no idea it uses micro sim:(
so we used template to cut one out and now it doesnt recognize it ;D

Just popping these sample images up as loltim requested them:

Photo 3 was taken in the dark using only the flash from the Lumia (plus auto-fix run on the photo afterwards).

At the moment, I have to admit I'm loving my Lumia more! Mainly because it's new and refreshing compared to iOS. But I'm sure after a week or two, it will be relegated back down to number 2 once I get bored of it and the lack of apps.

Saw one of these in best buy today - looks ok - nice small size. However I like a big screen and am used to one now. Build quality/material was meh - nothing outstanding.

I like lumia, its not mine but still ;)

how do you shuffle music in player ??

oh, and how do you add your own ringtones ?

There's a shuffle option when you play a playlist, or when you go to 'Songs', there is a 'shuffle all' option.

Can't find anywhere to select my own ringtone though, and can't assign a particular song as your ringtone in Music + Videos too.

Had a play with lumia yesterday and quitr impressed. Really liked that it was phone sized and not pda sized like the current batch of Androids. Can see myself trying wp7 in the 12 months.

had a small problem with importing contacts from gmail to hotmail so they can sync, but solved it - had to erase b'days from contacts ...as different formats of dates confuse contacts on hotmail..same goes for syncing contacts from gmail to phone...

Thanks for avice re ringtones, shame you are uanble to assign longer file and
have to cut it- more work

oh, and I know why my had cutted sim card didnt work....it was old sim in which chip was just too big :) luckily there was a o2 shop open till 9PM and managed to get a micro card :)
